Couple things games fans would note: 1. Cold Fusion is in the games, it powers Garden of Eden Creation Kits as seen in 2 and 3. 2. The Master and The Unity, an army of Vault Conquering Super Mutants from Fallout 1, had a full map of every vault they stole from Vault 14 in LA after capturing it, and were based out of Central LA in a giant cathedral. Realistically they should have taken 33, like, immediately. 3. Fallout 2 confirms directly the Chinese struck first, and this is from the Enclave, they'd know. They're the ones who contracted Vault-Tech to do the vault experiments so they could study up for their planned space colonies 4. Shady Sands is supposed to be somewhere near Death Valley or North-West of Vegas, not next to LA. As seen in Fallout 1

@@OlliverPeters There are contradictions with the later games(ESPECIALLY New Vegas as many many people have pointed out) as well as some minor stuff from 3(Cold Fusion and the Nuka Cola Bottle Design), but the worst contradictions are all from Game 1 and 2, which makes sense as they're set in that region

18:50 I think the effects hit perfectly because of 1950s serialized sci-fi. I think the yao guai scene is the perfect example of this that yao guai looked exactly like an old Creature Feature monster and the rifle on the wire sold it perfectly. Also with the power armor flying I thought they were going with how bad the old ship flying effects looked in those movies.

Good point, I hadn't thought of it like that! I am a big fan of vintage sci-fi, so I agree, they absolutely nailed the vintage "Creature Feature" vibe! With that in mind, it does make me like the "rifle on a wire" more. I would like to think it was done as an homage. Nice comment, thanks!

I only have the most minimal knowledge of Fallout, but I know enough to be impressed by the depth of the production here. I may actually get into the games now. Your video was well-scripted and edited. Not once did I feel bogged down or bored. Thanks for the hard work.

21:00 no it doesn't. Vault Tec's management *claimed* in this scene that they will drop the bomb. But there is no proof of that. It's even more likely that it was the Chinese. Appearantly the red herrings in the show work a little bit *too* well. Just like in the games. Like when DiMa hints at the player being a synth.
@OlliverPeters
4 ай бұрын
That's fair and I can respect that. We never actually saw them hit the button after all, so anything could have happened. I was just going off of what I saw in the episode. For me, I do like the idea of Vault Tec being behind it though! I never believed the Sole Survivor was a synth, but DiMa did have me second guessing myself for a minute! It's a cool theory! What a great character he was...

Yeah ir wasn't confirmed to be vault tech but they could've been definitely a player in dropping bombs. Too many people who worked for Vault Tech seemed to get caught off guard when they dropped. (Although this hypothetical could also be countered fairly easy, ((Vault Tec just wanted to eliminate their competition)) Also the woman, coopers wife left her daughter hang out with Coop even tho she might've known when the bombs would be dropped.

@@OlliverPeters My take of this is that Vaul Tec was prepared to drop the bombs but ultimately the Chinese did it sooner then Vaul Tec was ready for it.

The split in the timeline was not because of could fusion. That came a lot later, seen from us, in the future. In fact Fallout tech is often worse, at least computers.

You started off with a big mistake. The start of our timeline split is in the use of Nuclear Fission, not cold fusion.. We share the start of WWII, but differences in politics occur and have a loss of resource base (fissionables?) which brings the War of Alaska.
@OlliverPeters

@@OlliverPeters I’m still early on in the story so I’m bouncing back and forth between doing that and working on daily and event quests to level and rank up the score board with the repeatable challenge. Doing that along with the daily and weekly challenges makes it feel like there is always something to do. I forgot just how depressing the original storyline is, going through missions listening to a bunch of “if you’re hearing this that means I’m already dead” holotapes really bums me out when I stop and think about it. The gear degrading and slight survival mechanics makes the gameplay feel a lot more purposeful to me than FO4, in that game I quickly reach a stage where loot is almost pointless because I don’t interact with the settlement system. I do enjoy the camp building because it doesn’t feel a as micro-managey without the settlers, I just wish you could have more than 1 ally to make it feel a little more alive. I also really do love the multiplayer aspect because the world limit is low and the map is huge it’s rare to just bump into people exploring but when you do it’s cool to see people just going about their business totally divorced from what you’re doing. I play on PC so if that’s where you play you just might bump into me 🫡. Sorry if this is rambly or nonsensical, I typed all this on my phone lol.

3:16 the way politics is presented in videos games is what matters. If a political viewpoint is part of the world and is there to be critiqued is a good way to have politics in a game. Though when it’s shoved in a game where it has no effect is what most gamers have an issue with. Also Fallout New Vegas is THE best game in the franchise and needs a remaster!

Re: politics in entertainment, anything can be done clumsily. Calling the big bad of Episode One "Nute Gunray" at a time when Newt Gengrich was a major roghtwing political figure wasn't the smoothest move, for example. No matter how much I hate Trump, having a villain named Tronald Dump is going to take me out of the story. That kind of thing. But using real world politics as a basis for fiction or using fiction to comment on politics is as old as fiction itself. A lot of Shakespeare had an undercurrent of pro-Elizabethan propaganda. Same principle with stuff in ancient Greece.

You make a good point! Anything CAN be done badly, including political commentary. Rod Serling was always a master of social commentary based on real world politics, especially with the Twilight Zone! I also hate Trump with a fiery passion, and a recent episode of Doctor Who featured a Trump analog ONLY to make clumsy commentary with all the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Just like the examples you gave, it took me out of the story. Great comment, thanks!
