Stick time and practice.. good cine flying is the same as racing.. practice is the most important thing.. also running super low rates helps a load too

Great vid, and perfect explanation! I had problems getting the right smoothness out of the stick inputs and never came back to lower the rates. That graph overlay on the video makes it more dynamic and fun to watch. DISCLAIMER: Analogue pilots cringe at 2:01. Hammock power loop fail 10:01. Impaled drone 15:02
Randomly clicked this and ended up watching the whole thing! Super rare super chill great content keep making!! 👊 🖖

LOL @ 15:26 - YOU did not do that - the Keeper of the Fort issued a warning to ANY who try and pass...... 😁 Thanks! Your flights and the onscreen corresponding BB data was a great visual for understanding the adjustment you made. Well done brother.

I prefer ludicrously low rates [240 deg/sec pitch&roll, 200 yaw] with 25% expo on P&R, 0% on yaw. I set my TX stick inputs to 80% expo P&R, 60% yaw. I also fly in Angle mode only with 25-30 degrees max, and 75% strength, no air mode, no anti-gravity. I'm sure those numbers look weird, but they let me get my 100g, 2S whoop to do some really nice slow, smooth proximity flying.

Wow, here in Virginia it is crazy windy and we too were trying to tune and do some general trouble shooting, it is also colder...eeeek!

Tried emuflight’s dynamic rates? I love it for smooth cinewhoop flying. Edit: yeah I guess you have... just saw your video on dynamic rates ☺️

Very nice. I just solved my issue of hot motors on my Squirt by flashing Jesc 2.3-48kHz firmware. This did enable bidirectional DShot and therefore RPM filtering, but as I understand it, smaller motors tend to run cooler with the higher PWM frequency (and the flight time is better too.)
@uavtech

Yup. Motors run cooler, but ESCs can run warmer. Unless you are hard core racing, that's not typically an issue.

@@uavtech Good call out; thanks. Yeah, I'm definitely not going to be racing my squirt :-)

I feel partially vindicated - pathetically low rates is broadly better than overfiltering RC inputs!!!

Would you do a video on adjusting a 2-3" quad? I remember you talking briefly about typical PID and filter tuning for smaller props but quickly moved on because you were adjusting a 5". Unsure which video of your it was as I've watched many.

I like to play with auto smoothness. As high as 40-45. And ff to start about 60-70% of stick deflection and with values around 50 to 60. That gives me some delay at the centre and good response if I want to get out of trouble. And ff smoothness to 3 or 4

Nice work! I use to go crazy with the rates. Anymore I just bump my super rate to 35 or 40, everything else stays default! Smoov enough for me?

I am dissapointed with my rapidfire i pulled the trggger on after using true D for the last year. what a waste of money in my oppinion. i use the old dominator v2 with the 50+ deg of field view. not the best for focus but its what i thought i wanted at the time. long story short its upgrade my analog system or go DJI. Im not a racer just hobbyist. Any advice other than money not to pull the trigger on DJI?? Thanks Mark..!
@uavtech

I would pull the trigger. You will not be disappointed I reckon. I also use HD V2 with 50-deg FOV.
