I’m officially an author(screenwriter) and a Aspiring Director since this year, I never thought in (the French) cinema industry how long things takes… I’m shooting my first short in professional conditions for the first time this year, I’d definitely hire a DP to work with on the whole process! It’s a collaborative effort… Thanks for another super informative video man! Hope you’re well. Sending some love from Paris.

It's a bit wonky though, since the Lighthouse is on paper as cheap or even cheaper to make than the VVitch - the only budget increase is the actors involved, while the scenario is very much the same low budget, all-in-one-location type of deal.

Do Gregg Toland next! He did the cinematography for many classic films including Citizen Kane!

Just watched Operation Mincemeat. Wonderful work. The cinematography was excellent. Sebastian Blenkov was the DP. And Ari Wegner's work in the Power of the Dog was right there with Emmanuel Lubezki on the Tree of Life.

I worked on The Wonder for a few weeks which she shot. She was great to work with and I was shocked at how little coverage she shot, each scene might only have 3 or 4 setups. She took a long time lighting each shot over an hour between each set-up just working with the gaffer on fine-tuning the lights. The director also liked to keep the cameras rolling between takes the AC's would slate while final checks were happening then keep rolling until the director was happy they had it. They'd usually burn a whole card on each set up.

Please do one on Yves Bélanger of Dallas Buyers Club. I heard he worked with only two lenses with practical light on that particular film but see how it turned out. Thanks in advance.

I wish there were film schools that helped people who have learning disabilities such as myself, I would love to learn cinematography but have several learning disabilities and I wish it was more affordable.

Roberto I myself have dyslexia and learning disabilities. And believe me you can learn how to be a good cinematographer without going to film school. And there are so many ways to learn so don't let your leaning disabilities stop you.

@@theroie Oh thank you for that, I really appreciate the kind words. It has been a struggle for all my life, I've wanted to go to film school since I was a teenager in the 90's but have struggled with education and also mental illness, I'm 40 years old now and feel like a complete failure because I can't understand anything because of my learning disabilities but have a huge passion for Filmmaking.

@@robertobuatti7226 Don't worry about it we are all failures. Don't be hard on yourself. Pick up a camera and go create beautiful art, you have a story to tell so tell it.

I wish there were too. I’m autistic and took film classes when I got my associates degree at a community college but I couldn’t afford or handle the transition to a good quality four year university that fully specializes in film. Luckily, I realized I didn’t really need film school as KZitem videos like this taught me so much and I often ended up knowing more than film school students and teachers. I just made an award winning short last year completely by myself with no cast and crew except me, and shot my first music video and narrative short film as a DP this year. I’m still having an extremely tough time trying to be successful as an autistic person but there’s hope. I don’t see my autism as a problem but rather non-autistic people not seeing my humanity or creating spaces in general that embrace and support disabled people for who they are as the problem

Thanks for the helpful vid. Like! Tell me why this technique is used: a scene is filmed in an accelerated or slow motion mode (the actions of actors, the movements of actors), and at the post the speed is normalized?
