300 years ago you would've been burned on stake as a wizard. That's incredible!

I was very impressed to see you perform circular breathing previously when playing a whistle with drones. I believe that this his is the first time that I have seen the technique applied to the low whistle and Irish flute. I learned circular breathing on the didgeridoo many years ago when I lived in Australia. I see this as a radical and progressive development in Irish whistle and flute playing and salute you, we will see where it leads. Hearty congratulations Hatao!

I had been looking for a video to try to compare pillow whistle with the flute in the Irish traditional setting. while I don't think this was your intent of the video it really helped me compare the two sounds. and in your a great player by the way.

As an intermediate-to-advanced flutist, I have been consistently practicing this technique, 15 min a day, for two months now. After about one month, I could start to circular breathe with one note on the low whistle. This is pretty typical according to the information I found online. Now I can keep a sustained tone. I still can barely apply my technique to the flute, which is so much harder because you have less freedom to use your mouth to store/squeeze air due to the embouchure --- you can see in the video how much more pronounced Hatao's circular breaths are on the whistle vs. the flute. Every once in a while I come back to this for inspiration... it'll probably be another month of practice before I can play something on the flute.

@@hatao I kept it up and can now almost play the entire first song (that you did on the whistle) on the flute! Also, Robert Dick's "Circular Breathing For the Flutist" just came in the mail and is packed with good tips even for advanced players!

Superb job! I can do the circular breathing but I'm still far from using it while playing a tune. Huge respect for your inspiring skills! Can I ask you the title of the first jig that you played on the low Whistle?
