In this Physics video lecture in Hindi for class 11, IIT JEE, NEET we explained the basics of uniform and non uniform circular motion. We also talked about centrifugal force, radial acceleration and tangential acceleration in circular motion. We discussed on the formula for this pseudo force.
Let us consider a particle is moving in a circular path of radius r and its instantaneous speed is v. In this case, its radial acceleration is speed squared over radius and the direction of the acceleration will be towards the centre of the circular path. Its tangential acceleration is the time rate change in 'speed'. Interestingly, its total acceleration is the time rate change in 'velocity' and it is also equal to the vector sum of the tangential and radial acceleration.
We know that when any frame of reference is having acceleration (non inertial frame), any body situated inside it experiences a pseudo force equal to its mass times the acceleration of the frame and the direction of that pseudo force is opposite to that of the acceleration of the frame. Hence, we can say, in this case the pseudo force (in this case, centrifugal force) is acting radially outwards and is equal to mv^2/r, in case the particle is moving with constant speed.
