Smoker looks good. We usually do 750w hotplate with tinfoil and wood chips right on burner. Little water in there occasionally. Smoking you only want 120-140c, so small hotplate is enough for 0.2m³.

Lol, I was thinking how does this apply to saws :D I was thinking about using hotplate, but this style of smoke generator is less clunky IMO. Still needs babysitting though.

I use a big angle grinder without the protection stuff , and for the table it's made of steel I welded and a bunch of bolts and rulers to adjust heght and stuff It's not really the best but it works

Should be fine as long as you keep neck and face out of axis of rotation.. But then it's not as easy to do straight cuts. I have respect for angle grinders, probably much more than any other tool. Big beefy lathes are scary too..

Don't forget to separate airflows into motor from out of saw. Motor will be more than happy to suck in a lot of dust!

Yes, there should be shoot for sawdust and so motor being mounted flush with box can be actually advantage.

17:26 wire inside (the black one) isn't long enough. Take longer and wrap around heater few times for better work :D

:D I have to finish base still, it's not supposed to just sit on random piece of plywood. That's where electronics are supposed to be mounted. I was hungry though, so I used it as is.

Your hinge needs to be as big as your saw blade bushing assembly. As far as your "lead screw" idea; it will provide so much flex, you'll never have a rigid design. Consider a lead screw on the vertical axis. It could push the motor up or down. Also LARGE threaded rod if it's going to be long. That crap has so much flex you cant go more than a few cm. You could also design a rigid bracket to replace the length of the threaded rod. Shit just flex too much bro. Edit: using like 30cm rod to only move 3cm. That's your major design problem. Edit2: consider the fact you need 3 very rigid connections and you have 1 good one, one shady af, and one floating. Edit3: like, bolt a circular saw to the bottom of a table, then use its adjustment screws. This will be better and cheaper than your entire design.

Hmmm I don't quite understand what you mean. Despite this mechanism not being rock solid, it cuts with sub-mm precision.
