Used properly, the ankus, which you call a hook, will not harm the elephant. These elephants do not act out of fear. They have mutually bonded with the trainer through reward and positive reinforcement.

If you lived in Asia you would know that many elephants were domesticated over a thousand years ago and co exist happily with humans just as in America we have both wild horses that run free and domesticated horses.

Thanks for the video of how things really are at the circus. Alllykatz - don't worry I've been with circus 30 years and this is how it really is, it's a good life. They also live longer under human care. They don't get treatment like this out in the wild!!!

This is a guide, quite like the leash you would use on your dog. You don't consider a leash punishment, do you? Same thing. That guide, btw, weights about 6 ozs An elephant, well, I bet you know so much about elephants that I don't need to tell you how much they weigh. :)

just because these animals are healthy, doesn't mean it's OK to raise them in captivity. I know these people mean well, but it's just cruel to see them like that compared the freedom and space they would have in the wild.
