A biological records centre is a key component of any strategic conservation programme but both a lack of data and a lack of access to existing data, within and between the Channel Islands, limits the extent to which decision makers can take biodiversity into account. To address this, the Channel Islands Records Centres in Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey and Sark are adopting a coordinated approach to collating, reporting and sharing data through a centralised online database. This talk will introduce the Indicia system and database, its benefits, our future plans and how local experts can get involved, as well as giving a preview of the new website.
