I want to know the difference between the status of the 8821 phones in CUCM, i.e., "Unregistered" vs "None"... what does last registered "Never" mean ?

just to let you know..since my last message, last month and half, we have got everything working properly (satisfaction level) with these phones. Of course, we had full TAC team supports and few firmware updates on these devices. So far, we are still on 2.4Ghz and not seeing any urgency to switch to 5 because phones have been working good since last firmware upgrade. Thanks

Great! Glad you were able to get that resolved.

I have this phone deployed and it has been a nightmare for me! Battery puff issue, microphone failing & terrible WIFI range. Expensive phone and it doesn’t come with the battery unless you buy the battery pack. Within 2 years I have replaced over 50 of them. NOT RELIABLE

Take a look at the deployment guide. All the info you need should be in there. www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/8821/english/Deployment/8821_wlandg.pdf

not pointing fingers at you but this model of phone from Cisco has been such a pain for network guys!!! Features are nice but first phone has to work with your wireless infrastructure. We have been using 7925s for years and has no issues. Since we got these phones, one problem after another!!! Calls drop, roaming issues, dead air, phone reboots by itself, lose the WL for no reason etc etc. They have very different chip set then 7925s. 8821s will only work better with 5GHz where 7925s were working fine 2.4GHz. Cisco has been asking us to move to 5GHz but that is just not possible because we need to spend thousands of dollars to put more APs for coverage first. So far, very disappointed with 8821 phones.

@gdub Appreciate the feedback. If you want, send me your TAC SR# in e-mail(ciscosalvatore@gmail.com). I can take a quick look and make sure your account team knows about whats going on. I personally have lots of customers using the phones without issues.

Thanks....as you mentioned, you have lots of customers who are using 8821s and not having any issues!!! Do you know if they are using 2.4 or 5? I can provide you SR etc but first I need to know if you work for Cisco or not? Thanks

One off the top of my head one is using 5Ghz. I do work for Cisco. I would just take a look at the TAC case, and reach out to your account team for you. Make sure they know whats going on.

Here are some generic guidelines as well. www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/collaboration-endpoints/unified-wireless-ip-phone-7925g/200032-how-to-get-your-792x-wireless-phones-per.html
