I just stayed in this hotel for a week, 12/3 - 12/9 2023, great hotel, clean, quirky with the decor in the lobby. I'd stay again for the proximity to the tube, DLR and National Rails. I've stayed around the corner at DoubleTree on Pepys St. twice and this is a better place to stay IMO.

I stayed at one of the Amsterdam locations and the friendly staff element seems to be universal - they're so helpful, yet if you're happy just to use the screen to check in (say, you've just got off a long flight and all you want is bed), they won't hover. The iPad in the room is a great touch too - although some bits like lighting colour are little more than a fun novelty. It suits the vibe of the place though, with those common areas just having the right amount of quirk and character not to feel like they're trying too hard - plus they make up for the lack of room space. I just wish the price point was a little more affordable, but if they are and it's somewhere I'm going to, I'd definitely give them another try - as you say, the locations are generally excellent.

Makes me think Virgin Voyages snatched the ipad and color lighting idea from Citizen M lol

@@tfftCitizen M was certainly the first I saw it amongst affordable places (it could've been something that was already present in luxe brands), but it's so easy to do personalise things (i.e. make them more Insta friendly) and will only get easier as more hotels move to systems that have greater connectivity (I work for a cloud apps company and recently wrote an ebook on the subject, so it's something I'm pretty keen on!)

Told you I was coming to watch these. Was in London quite a bit on early 2000’s. Tower of London was my favorite. Spouse was with HSBC and they made him stay at some dumpy place in financial district. I’get a day pass to the underground and sight see or shop all day.

Like the new scoring system, the Hotel has loads of usable space but no amenities (l need a Gym) l think the public spaces are great and definitely look good as well. The room is what l would call functional, for London the price/style/location that's a fantastic option especially for a single traveller 👍

looking at a place for a week, and wow citizen M looks like a great location, modern vibe ,nice patio , but then i priced it at 220 CDN a night and looked at the room size. Hard no..
@tfft

$220 is actually a decent price, I've seen it well over $250USD before. It's a sought after area which doesn't have many hotels.

Good review. Your new scoring system works but I missed your usual spoken wrap-up. I liked the concept of this place and could have put up with the small room - but not for anything more than a few days. The hotel's website, just visited, quotes room-rates starting at £239. Your dollar-rate was less and you got a premium view. But I'm still rather appalled at the price. You can easily beat that, further west (so closer to London's centre and nightlife), with a free breakfast, and in a full-service hotel. Anyways, I'm now looking forward to seeing how EasyJet (still in melt-down) compares with JAL.

Yeah, it’s still not cheap by any means but I think there’s something to be said about the consistency factor. For the same price (as what I paid) you can get loads of different brands from Indigo to Radisson Blu… but depending on which one you choose it could be anything from ‘fresh and well kept’ to ‘musty and drab’- not disagreeing with you, but I think there are plenty of people that would gladly pay a premium in order to know exactly what to expect (myself included, at times…).

Which camera did you use for filming? Did you use any tools to edit/polish the video? or is the color in the video the original you got after filming? P.s. This is my favorite video on Flip Flop so far 🥰; it made me fall in love with the London's vibe 💂🇬🇧

Great video. Is there some way we can further understand how small the room is? I stayed in The Freehand NY and that pushed my limits a bit with how small the room was. I do not recommend the Freehand if you feel claustrophobic, which is a new thing for me. Edit: I just checked. Freehand is 102 sq. ft., Citizen M is 150 sq.ft. for the basic rooms.
@tfft
Жыл бұрын
My stay here predated when I began measuring rooms myself, like I do now… so I cannot say for sure the advertised 151sq’ is incorrect- but I can say, I’m doubtful. I’m currently in a room which is 118sq’ by my own measurements and it feels quite a bit more spacious than I remember the CitizenM being. The room is as wide as a King bed is long (plus 5 inches). So that puts it at around 85” wide meaning it would need to be 22’ deep, which I just find hard to believe. If you tend to feel claustrophobic I wouldn’t recommend the (any) CitizenM properties- even if the room is the actual 151sq’, it feels closed in since you cannot walk around the bed, essentially cutting the ‘usable’ space in the room in half.

@@tfft Thank you so much for your reply! It's just so weird that I started to get claustrophobic, on planes too. Hope it's a phase. I appreciate the advice to avoid CitizenM, probably good to hear it from someone else. It looks like a really fun and peppy space otherwise. Best wishes with your current travels!
