In Spain, in the national championship rally in the 70s, ran two 2CV that were always the last to go running each leg of the rally. If it was a downhill section, we all waited until seeing the two drivers with the 2cv because it was a real show how they leaned into each curve. We all applauded as crazy their skill and sportsmanship for running with such cars, and always enjoyed the show

@@PaulRudd1941 The first time I drove a Dyane 6 I was upset by the lack of precission of the steering wheel but, after about 100km, I drove a very, very long descent about 15km long and I was driving really fast, at the very limit of overheating and almost completely loosing the brakes, and overtaking every car in the road. It was really fun and I loved the car. And the owner, sitting in the front seat, never complained...

I'm pretty sure the wheels stay on the ground at all times. That's why the sides are all scraped up. The mirrors just drag along the ground around turns until it springs back like a rubber band.

Im a French dude, passionate about Citroen. When the 2CV has been designed, it was for farmers living in the french back country. To be produced, the car has to be able to cross a field with eggs on the rear seats without crushing one egg. That why the suspensions are so loose :) 🇫🇷 Citroën are the pros of suspension system, even Rolls Royce has bought the hydrolic suspension system of Citroën.

A strange effect of pointing out these small mistakes is that those who point it out are usually seen as rude, and it is assumed they have self esteem issues, as they must point out every minute flaw of others in order to look smarter and better than everyone else. In reality they come off as a pedantic, presumptious, infuriating, tedious, and fatuiging bore who struggles with high level communication, as they get hung up on the literal meaning of everything.

yes going over the field the eggs were fine, trouble was that when the CV went round corners the eggs where thrown out through the windows.

@Keegan Young The old aircooled VW Beetle also had a very low CG. At 50cm above ground, it's around 5 cm [2 inches] lower then most four-seater saloons. Reason - engine, gearbox, battery etc all mounted at floor level. Modern cars actually have a fairly high CG due to their engines being mounted high in front of the dash [total opposite to 2CV - and beetle].

I drove one, bought from the DOT in France for 500 francs( 100 bucks) in the early 80’s. Went all over the place and only a fuel pump failed… all 2CV’s were iconic, even back then.

Back in the early 1970s we owned a rusty 2CV, a Dyane, and then an Ami 6 Break. Great memories, particularly a non-stop drive from Aix-on-Provence to Sweden in the Ami 6.

Unrollable.....except in reverse and throw the steering wheel hard over. Then it is possible or hit a kerb going forward whilst in a corner on the limit. But generally one of the safest cars and great for teaching good driving skills.

@@babaganoush6106 Yes, very suprinsingly in reverse, the steering wheel tend to turn until the stop, the car can rollover by the nose just after the end of the U-turn if braking then on a slope. Seen.

oh don't worry, in fact in the world of 3cv and 2cv windows are known as 3000 elbow breakers. the insurance that holds them usually fails, it's normal since these locks are 50 or 60 years old

Aah yes.... touring Europe in a kombi back in the 70s and getting use to driving on the “wrong side of the road 😎” , every 2CV on a bend was literally on the wrong side of the road and usually coming right at you.... fond memories (....it’s a boy thing)
