First time I have seen one stripped all the way down. It is usually carbon build up or dodgy brush connections that stop them working. I did not know it was really a wobble pump, similar to the pumps in petrol power washers etc. Nice to see it.

Hi Alex, it uses the same operation principle as the belt-driven swage pumps on the older Citroens only it uses an electric motor to drive the pump. I'm in the middle of designing an alternative to the current problematic electric motor.

I have one of these pumps and have been told that the excessive build up of calrbon is the cause of it constantly blowing fuses and that the capacitor could be the reason. Do you know of a source for these capacitors so that I can hopefully put the problem to rest.....

Nice video. Interresting that the pump is the same excentric type as the older ones. And the little diaphragm has to be a little accumulator. But what´s the function of the four solenoids? I can only think of the need for a pressure sensor so the ECU can control the pump motor, and maybe some pressure control/bypass. I really have no experience of LDS-systems. But as the pump is only for suspension, and because of the few number of pipes, i guess that middle spheres is still controlled at each stiffness regulator. Anyway, very interresting, and thank you. This gave me new energy with my strange idea of Citroën suspension on my old Isuzu Trooper. But for a future electric conversion of a DS, i guess the LDS pump can´t manage the flow a power steering need. If i remember correctly, the LDS parts works fine with LHM, but how about running a pair of C5-pumps and maybe double the main accumulators too. Hmm. I am also almost finished with making my Activa 100% up to spec. Maybe it need some Amvar regulators and why not a C5 pump to be able to remote control the roll correctors too... ;) Okey, now i REALLY need to shut up.

Hi ! I think two from the valve are the Pressure(outline "P") valve and the other two are the inline ("T").

Interesting comment. I ask myself the same question about LHM compatibility, for an electrical DS for example. It works only on demand, according to the need of pressure, doing the job of the old 7-piston pump and the conjonctor-disjonctor and its accumulator

Hi, great video it was really helpful for me :) Does anyone know if you can buy individual spares for this pump? I need the black rubber part CitroMan pulls out here at 07:04. The one I pulled out of my pump is badly perished and parts of the rubber were floating around in the oil... Otherwise the internals seem fine.

Excellent video. Always wondered how the pump operated. Always wanted to build a trailer with a spare Xantia back axle I have. I wonder if a modified C5 pump could be used to supply the hydraulic pressure?

@@xavier9147 no. The HYDRACTIVE 3 pump is known to seize up if used with LHM. It is imperative to use LDS. LHM systems, on the other side, seem to be getting along quite well with LDS.

My son drove it to portugal and there was hydraulic oil spray in the r/h engine bay and wheel arch. My ex-mechanic said that he needed to change the oil deposit from the pump cos the pump is linking a bit and he says is the deposit ,what part is the deposit ?

Usually, carbon dust builds up in the electric motor as there aren't any cooling vents as the operation is very intermittent. The pump itself needs very little attention if any.

excellent 2nd time around I have just been offered a 2008 6 speed 2 litre HDI .. Citroen C5. R/H drive matriculated for Portugal . A service kit for that pump would be a great upgrade .

Hi, i have a C5 MK1 , which when parked the rear suspension drops all the way to the bottom, could one of the 4 electrovalves shown in the video have a faulty seal or a bad connection perhaps ? anyways seems like an awful lot of trouble to fix it if that is the case ..

mine does this after a few hours but in the front axle. I've read it could be the strut leaking internally and/or the pump with some broken seal...any way to diagnose this easily?

Rafael, you are so right. Our family has owned many Citroens from my 1957 id19, my brother's id20 and ds 20 my mother's DS21 hydraulic injection, my 1986 BX19 GT and now my 2005 C5 HDI estate which has succumbed to a major pump failure. The electric motor burnt out. After seeing this I am confident I can get my second-hand pump working again.
