Mine a 1.6 2006 vtr senso drive lost drive whilst driving about 6 years ago. Had to get a garage to fit a new actuator for the sensodrive. It's been OK up to May 2024. Used virtually daily. BUT the voltage is a big issue definitely. I also fitted a new battery just after the actuator. This solved the problem. More to do with a worn actuator in my case .. ? If I recall correctly. Believe it or not 3 days ago same issue ! Battery light etc .. would start but wouldn't select gear . Tried the initialisation .. 3 or 4 times at the road side . Still no good . Ended up recovery tow truck home. Even with extra battery's.. same problem back home. Wiggled wires into actuator... got it started. The paddles would select 1 gear and 2 but it would more or less resort straight away to snow flake warning 😅😅 and AUTO flashing battery .. [ I think flashing battery light is related to starting issue ... circuit ? ? Not just low voltage battery .] My initialisation process is slightly different .. so I'll try these and get back [ thinking also about drilling holes in actuator and spraying in silicon lube ] UPDATE 31 May 2024 Good news I got it 😊 I drilled holes about 3mm in the plastic bottom of the actuator and sprayed in silicon .. no good . I tried another in the top aluminium 3mm and again sprayed in silicon ... Still no good . Tried tapping with a hammer whilst it was resetting ... nothing. [ this worked last time ] Nearly gave up .. but decided to soak the electrical connectors going into the actuator in WD40 [ AKA mechanic in a tin ] 😅 Soaked them well in with nozzle several times and physically moved/ pushed around the cables . Left it for 15 minutes [ maybe longer poss overnight would be better ] ... and it worked ! No snow flake or warning lights.. starts and gears select 😊 The actuator is located by the passenger wheel [ uk ] near or very close to the ABS unit [ I think it is ] It can be accessed OK from underneath once it's on wheel ramps . Move the plastic cover out the way and a nozzle should fit in easy . I also noticed when following the black negative from the battery to top of engine the connection to top of engine was well corroded .. not good what so ever , would cause untold problems

Listen pal i know that you have read comments like this but, if you have changed the battery or left it without a battery pluged it reset some stuff in the cars computer or electronics which the calibration needs 14 volts. I have the same problem and i just figured it out cause every time the gearbox malfuctions i need another car to do like a jumpstart i does not work with the battery voltage. btw when you do the calibration listen in the engine if you hear a hissing sound that tells you the calibration with this voltage.

I bet the gear selector mechatronics requires some sought of lubrication to be carried out. Jumping the voltage up to over 14 volts would be giving the mechatronics motor the extra torque required to get past the extra pressure created by lack of lube. Thanks for the video I might just go buy the car i'm eyeing off which seems to have the same problem..

The actuator does have (and needs) lubrication. However in this case it seems it is something in the electronics that requires higher (and stable) voltage. But you are correct that the mechatronics will drag down the voltage too.

I have the service light and dashboard says gearbox fault and antipolution fault too, they could be lambda sensors though, however after a few seconds they go out and the date needs setting so yes just initialising is a problem presently.. Very frustrating but I`ll try a few of the booster methods, I like the cars but a ridiculous set up, there is a problem I have that you didn`t have there Pete and that`s the service amber light directly in front of steering wheel, this constantly stays on so this could be because there really is a genuine gearbox fault or the lambda sensors. My drivers window won`t open but passenger does, anyway thanks for the video it`s given me some hope at least....

@PetesWorkshop Hi Pete. I had the same situation today. Car suddenly stopped changing gears. Did the usual procedure i.e. disconnected pole, waited a little, connect pole back, press brake, turn on, heard gear box calibrating at full capacity.....BUT just a dash on screen and still can't change gears. Note that Auto and Battery are NOT flashing. Everything is normal except for that dash on board instead of indicating the gears. What are your thoughts? What's the reason? What to check next in your opinion?

@@vkouroub it is worth trying to connect battery jump cables to another vehicle (with engine running) to ensure the voltage is good.

@@PetesWorkshop Tried it multiple times and nothing unfortunately. "Dash" instead of gears showing on board. Battery started flashing and car is in eco mode although i charged it (the battery is 1 years old). Did a diagnostic test and P1351 fault appeared. Cleared the fault retried the same. Checked fuses all good. For some reason the sensodrive refuses to calibrate even with 14+ volts from jump cables. I have no choice but to bring the to Citroen dealer workshop.

Sir i have citroen c3 2007, i try to move shifter cable tnen i get same issue iremoved inhibitor switch and clean it now p n r d appear but still start, voltage is12.6v but as i know car can start even with 10v charged, why we need 14v? Since 30 day i used uber bcz my car unable to start, i am from Oman 🌹🇴🇲

Having myself a sensodrive problem on a 2004 C2. While driving and at random situations the Auto and Battery lights suddenly start flashing and i'm unable to change gears. I turn off the engine try to restart but nothing. Try to change gears also nothing. At this point i have 2 options: 1) Disconnect/connect battery pole or 2) Let 1 day to pass, either way the car starts and gearbox works normally but just for a couple of days where the problem repeats itself. Went to a specialized garage where everything was checked and proceeded by changing the battery, also changing the clutch+actuator and even had the gearbox dismantled and checked. Everything was going fine until yesterday, 5 months after the repair, where the problem reappeared!!! Since almost everything related to this problem is new on my car i tried recalibrating with no external source but it doesn't do anything. Is it the 5 month old battery? Isn't a little bit early for the battery to wear off? I mean there is no logic in recharging or replacing the battery in such frequency. Also what is the root cause of this problem? A faulty ECU maybe? Cabling, connectors etc? Anyway i will try recalibration connecting the battery to another running vehicle and come back.

No sorry, the starter was removed to remove the trans but the cables were left connected and I don’t recall the wire connections.

Hello,did the battery charge solved the solenoid shift control? I have code error and drops out of gear and doesen't start until reinitilization.

I had to boost the battery with jumper leads connected to another vehicle before it would complete the reinitialization.

its a simple fix...its a wheel speed sensor fault...wiring or the signal switch

The Snowflake light is exactly as it represents...Snow ,traction control for driving on snow ...hence loose gravel or losing traction on the road,corner etc.
