I made the decision to convert the rear air suspension to coil springs as used in the lower models of the C4 Picasso/Grand Picasso. This involved jacking the rear up, removing the wheels, disconnecting the air lines to the air springs, removing the air springs and replacing them with the coil springs. I left the compressor and the height sensors in place and still connected to the wiring loom. The job went quite well and I was able to disable the air suspension with the Diagbox software. I also needed to disable the auto height correction and remove the fuse for it to stop the compressor from kicking in. This stopped any error messages. I bought aftermarket springs from a local motor factor and I bought the spring seats and bump stops from my local Citroen Dealer (Evans Halshaw Bradford). The total cost was just over £180 which was cheaper than a new compressor (just shy of £1000 for a brand new genuine one from the dealer). Many owners have done this conversion so it is tried and tested. It was worth every penny to have a permanent fix for my air suspension.
PLEASE NOTE: I'm just a DIY mechanic. I try to do things the correct way but sometimes I have to manage with what I have. This is more of a "how-I-did-it" rather than a "how-to".
