Charles Marcus, an Engineering Technician for the City of League City, runs a nonprofit music program called The Dickinson Music Enrichment Center that provides music lessons for underprivileged children in Galveston County. The program teaches various instruments like clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion, French horn, flute, and tuba. Classes are taught by seniors and juniors at local high schools, who are section leaders in the marching band. The program is no cost to qualifying families, and if students that start in fourth grade go on to participate in sixth grade band at their school, the program will pay for an instrument for them to use.
