The rules of this game are quite simple: there are 32 civilizations each has one additional settler, the ultimate goal is to found a city as close to the middle as possible to get better chances for conquering the world. Those who lucky enough to dodge raging barbarians and find a free spot among this madness will get access to the tons of gold, food, and luxury resources. Some leaders may prefer not to take risks and instead try some alternative strategies like put the city right next to the capital to not feel so lonely or block the neighbor for psychological pressure. In any case, first turns indeed may be decisive, but the real game always begins in the second half.
On some resolutions (like with my old 4:3 screen), text may look strange or too small, it's because Civ 5 doesn't upscale UI for 4k, and that's disappointing. But on the other hand, now I can make larger maps (Earth map is coming... one day), so it's maybe worth it.
