Lost a deity Culture victory attempt to a German AI science victory, because Yongle just kept pumping out too much culture, so he was the last and only one I couldn’t tourism-reach. Admittedly, I played like garbage, did not notice Germany all of a sudden jump in progress like crazy after being mid all game long, and I was boxed in hard, but still - Yongle is an AI nightmare… I did get a 28k tourism-from-single-concert rock band with 2 digits amount of successful concerts, which was absolutely bonkers, so that was neat, I guess.

@@FacialFischl I wouldn't say she's a worse black queen. You get a spy quicker than Catherine, all your spies are more effective than Catherine's, getting promotions with spies isn't really hard at all, and if you use them in cities with a lot of culture and science, you can get a pretty nice income of it every few turns. She's actually pretty good against Yongle because of that. And there's also the fact that China is just a better civ than France to begin with.

The main thing I've been wondering with this civ is how well the AI will handle it. The projects seems to be too situational and nuanced for the AI to handle it well. Btw, River Goddess is definitely one of my favorite pantheons. I always end up going for it or Divine Spark in probably 80% of my games. The rare exceptions are when I have some tiles in my capital that would supercharge my early game.

£268 - The Yongle Emperor was the fourth son of the Hongwu Emperor, the founder of the Ming dynasty. He was originally enfeoffed as the Prince of Yan with the capital of his princedom at Beiping - which would become modern day Beijing. 90 science AI at turn 68? I had a 280 science AI at turn 110 in my last game on Deity. Most shockingly it was the Zulu, who had a hell of a game obviously and not Korea or Australia, who were in the game too, but only had around 140 science each at that point. They quickly went to 250 science each after that. Luckily I was going for culture and I already had all the temples, Mont Saint Michele and relics I could need or this would have been a major L. Canada gave me hell with their religious attacks but also kinda won me the game by killing all my apostles and giving me that sweet, sweet tourism from relics. Deity AI is wild sometimes. 😅

It ramps up with every trade route so if they get more cities, going into more commercial hubs/harbors, they can get more trade routes which end up in more food and production. And if you make a trading city (50% of your trade routes minimum) that city will grow enormous. Stacking in Yongle's ability for more yields in 10+ population cities, makes it unmissable for this game. Even just in general having a trade hub with Wisselbanken helps grow those cities, as long as you got allies or enough city states nearby.
