this lore series has been a fantastic insight into the geography, spirituality, culture, politics, and history of the americas.

the little bit of Cherokee culture in the Appalachia is actually because of the eastern band which is in North Carolina near Smoky mountains national park!

So my bachelors degree was actually in Geology. I went to JMU which is in the Shenandoah Valley and live there. So while your number was correct about the 500 million years and it being before trees, the big mountainy areas you showed dont actually have the coal its gonna be the plateaus that are on the western sides of the appalachia that has the coal, which is slightly younger ( but still older than the dinosaurs). It be really cool if Shenandoah had coal, especially for my wallet but really its only gonna be in places like WV kentucky those places. Not in the giant mountains shown on the map.

Yeah, though this map area is meant to be taken less literally "only the mountains" and more "this bigger culture sphere" so we can play Steelfolk if we so decide. Still great to hear about the real specifics of coal formation!

Here's hoping you cover the Trailwalker faith and the awesome cowboy nomads of the Great Plains someday! Keep up the phenomenal work in the meantime!

Absolutely! One of my favorite playthroughs in CK2 was to take one of the nomads all the way to California and build a pseudo-Qing Dynasty. We'll have to do that at some point with CK3.

Glad to hear it! I love what we have so far in the mod and know it's only going to keep on growing. I'm hoping once it hits steam that the community of folks interested in After the End will grow, but for now these passion projects are still a lot of fun.

I wonder how much the old and new worlds know about eachother. I'd imagine the people around the Bearing Strait wouldn't just forget that there is land on the other side, rather that they'd remember that and take advantage of it for trade or migration, so there would still be an active and in-use route between the Americas and Asia.

In the CK2 version, the old world shows up in force. Russians and Japanese attempts to colonize the West Coast and British attempts to reconquer the Americas are a nice part of the lore there. These are not yet implemented in the CK3 version, but I imagine the Old World won't be gone from After the End for good, as I agree that it would be kinda impossible to lose all connections with the old world. We'll see!

Having a blast watching through this series, I’d love for you to cover California and the Pacific Northwest soon!

The mod is apparently adding more to California soon-ish; I could potentially see us doing another lore + campaign in the region, though I suspect I'll probably need to find some good videos to watch on whatever subjects the After the End team decides to loop in as lore.

Did a spit take when you said that Auks of all things lived in Appalachia, and that they were penguins, both things are incorrect.
