for the acrylic cover, I'd get another piece of horizontal cladding you have at the top, hinge it underneath the existing upper horizontal piece, so it folds down and secures the top of the acrylic, then simply put a couple of slide bolts on that hinge down piece with the keepers on either side timber. Super easy, super quick, super secure. To access, simply slide the slide bolts back, timber hinges up, remove the acrylic. To put back, slot it in at the bottom, hinge the timber out the way, push the acrylic in, drop down the flap, slide each bolt, secure...

No, I wouldn’t.
@MegaAndygo
Жыл бұрын
@@frankiepitt9135 ?? ..you wouldn't what ? Can't see an issue with this solution, it's quick (if you need access in a hurry to a valve) it's in keeping with the aesthetics (simply another horizontal timber, identical to the one above and in keeping with the cladding), it's maintenance free (turnbuckles get loose, require adjusting constantly, the screwhole gets enlarged over time, etc. Wingnuts are fiddly, don't offer quick access, lose anodisation if constantly wound on/off, corrode, etc) and it's easy to do - another piece of timber, some anodised good quality slide bolts (like the ones you have on a door), plated hinges (I'd use exterior R/B type), and you're done. You could obviously go over the top, laser out a hinge pattern in acrycast, fit hinges, latch mechanisms, etc, but where that is in relation to the viewing area, and for ease, simple solutions usually give least hassle. Interested to know what you think the issues might be (just in case might be helpful to others) Is it an aesthetic one you reckon, or do you see issues with rigidity of the sides ( shouldn't be an issue, I regularly laser 6 mm Acry and it's indestructable......) Or maybe it's the lack of side support causing slack and rattle noise, in which case Lee could put some rubber shuts down the side to give a light seal. it's got to be more aesthetically pleasing than a wedged plank :🙂🙂 ...and also, top work Lee, looking magnificent. cheers

Hi lee, you know me so I’m going to be honest and not blow smoke up your ring , I’m not loving the wood cladding , but that’s me and as long as you like it that’s all that matters , I will say though , you’ve put wet wood on ,with that particular cut of wood, wait till the sun comes , drys and shrinks the timber , you might be lucky with the thickness of it preventing to much shrinkage but also on the 4 inch strips you’ve gone with one screw in the middle , talking from experience, you might find the wood curls , hopefully not .with the pie work at the end of the pond why not just make a removable box same style as the cladding and cover the lot up ,..fish are looking great mate 👍

Not everyone’s cup off tea! But it’s mine 😃 Ya if it shrinks I’ll take it off and render it in summer no drama to me. Gives me a reason to live, pond, sleep, repeat!!!!!! Ya koi are doing well that’s my only inspiration for this pond, not really fussy about appearance to be honest more in to the science off keeping good water 💦
