The best thing Claire did- was sell the team to someone like Dorilton. The family lived through one of the roughest era of F1 - where manufacturers were spending untold Billions to race. Respect to Frank, Claire and family for how they went on; and even more, for having found a fitting custodian for the teams future.

She has certainly mellowed out - she made a couple of very duff decisions regarding personnel and although she is unable to say who and why, I suspect they were made more in hope than pure pragmatism. 2019 testing was a debacle - to be honest the whole team of that period should be ashamed in letting it happen but Claire had to suffer the visceral hatred it created. I can't help feeling she would have been better getting her brother to run the factory and she could have concentrated more on the marketing, sponsorship and team politics, which was more her natural forte. Sad the family is no longer in control but it seems Dorilton are slowly restoring things even if it is only the name above the door that really remains! I have many good memories of the factories in Station Road & Basil Hill Road working with the guys there in the late 80's and early 90's. I long for the team to return to a sustained period of competitiveness and ultimately championship success.

Actually, before the bankruptcy of the coronavirus, Williams had been invited by Ferrari and Mercedes. But the request was that Williams become the second team, just like Red Bull. Claire Williams refused this request. This was a very bad decision. During Claire Williams' control of the team, everything was getting worse. At first, the team could compete for the podium, but in the end, the team could not even get 1 point. What I am really dissatisfied with is that because of Claire Williams' arrogance, all the assets of Jazz Williams were sold to offset debts. This included the car in their museum. At that time, I had just watched F1 for a short time, and I felt that Claire should no longer take on the position of team leader, and she should hand over the power to professional managers. Because of many bad choices, the American took over the team and experienced two or three years of suffering before it began to recover. This requires a complete reshuffle, which needs to serve the game completely.

Of course Susie was there for marketing. She was competen enough to drive, but didn't have the level to get CLOSE to F1 in terms of her race performances. Is she'd been a boy with those performances, she'd be a pay driver in touringcars. Allow that boy to get into F1, and he'll train to deal with it. He'll be off the pace just the same. That said, Susie didn't suck in her FP1 outings. She got some testing beforehand which sure helped, they don't get that sort of thing anymore in the actual car.

Even the current DTM champ won't get a sniff at F1. Susie wasn't at that level, and she passed 100s of faster drivers to get the Williams gig and training/pampering. Explain that to me as NOT being because she was a woman. I love women, but I love truth more.
