This is wild, when i was a huge anime nerd 15 years ago i watched Clannad like 20 times. It really, really messed me up badly in a good way. Obviously, After Story (season 2) being the main component. I was just a mid teenager and had many quite unusual issues. On the outside i was very extroverted and popular, mostly to cover up my insecurities. I mostly wanted to be alone most of the time, so it was more of a mask. Nowadays, after it turned out i had a disease since my childhood explaining all my issues, after it broke through completely a couple of years ago i sit here in a completely ravaged body at the age of 30. I lost my soon-to-be-wife, my family, my friends, my career, my finances, my home (if i ever had one), my body. Everything. A few days ago i decided to rewatch Clannad, for some odd reason. I thought i still remembered it all, what happens to Nagisa, Ushio, etc. The weird thing is, i did not remember that in the end it all came back to them all being fine. I remembered it just being like them both dying, or at least Nagisa being dead for sure. Whats even weirder is, once i realized it, i remembered that i rewatched Clannad already like 5 years ago once and had the exact same thing happen. I remembered them both dying only. I was gut punched, crying my eyes out, partially about the story and characters and partially about my own life, and then the resolution. Only that im still me, stuck with my life. Happy for some ficitional characters. Clannad for sure has some moments of cliche by now and there is a lot of fan service in the first season, but it still is an amazing story with really really good characters. I will never have a child at this point, not for physical reasons but all the other ones, but Ushio is like the cutest child ever lol. I think everyone would love to have a kid like that, or maybe most parents feel that way about their children even if theyre not. I dont know. Clearly, not every parent...

The whole show was enlightening and sad. After watching it for the first time, I didn't cry because I unconsciously kept waiting for "the big sad" to happen (didn't know what, just knew by others that the show was sad) and thus semi-ruined the emotional experience for myself. Word of advice: don't tell people to watch Clannad because it's sad. Tell them to watch Clannad because it's good.

Had to post it here with this ost, Its Oct. 2020 and I rewatched Clannad from beginning to end, to fully take in everything. There was a lot of foreshadowing and queues in the show that indicated what really happened. Kotomi mentioned the secret world her parents researched on. With gravity and objects existing in a multi-dimensional plane that correlates to their world. The emotions and thoughts of someone can be a result of what occurs in their world. Tomoya always hated the city in the beginning and did a lot of bad things, therefore his light was unfruitful. Miyazawa talked about the orb of lights that can be seen by a few persons, which grants any wish you have in the city. Ushio in the end world talked about the lights being so faint but all together can have a great impact or force. After meeting Nagisa, tomoya helped people to the extent of pure happiness, he literally went all out. His light became fruitful and even after the fight with his dad when he proposed to Nagisa. He wanted to run away from the city again. But Nagisa supported him right throughout. Which I believe is the main reason why he loved her so much. She really knew him and knew how to support and love him despite everything. The correlation between both worlds is amazing. When ushio lost her robot toy in the sunflower field, I believe was the robot she built in the end world that was we learned to know was Tomoya. The story that Nagisa and Tomoya knew in the play about the end world was because of Ushio. In these worlds, time was NOT linear, meaning it didn't flow in one direction, the only thing connecting both worlds were the feelings and emotions of the people in the city. Nonetheless, I CRIED at literally every sad scene in this show, even from the first season. But the show was overall very emotional and subliminally creative and I watch a lot of anime. But Clannad is still a classic. Careful what you do and treat others well, you definitely reap what you sow.

OGs like me who played the visual novel remember spamming these tracks in the music player as they were unlocked in the game.

I always liked that too. Tbh, this might as well be his theme. Every time he is in deep thought this song plays.

Holy S***. Did anyone notice the panning effects. Completely adds a ton more emotion to the song. I don't know why, but it brings more tears to my eyes than it did before I noticed. Breathtaking.

Scurry's Top 10s No panning effects. It feel's like the pictures moving, but it's actually not. I though that at first until i strained my eyes not to do so. Your eyes are playing tricks on you. xD

Dude, not the picture, the music. If you put headphones on, you'll definitely hear it.
