I met Clarence just before signing a 5 year contract when he, OK Bruce came to Albany NY in the mid 80',s We were working on a 5 year contract with a recording company, I expressed to C what I saw, what I did not like, Clarence said to me, FAMILY is most important, I walked away from that record deal and have never looked back, I have 9 Kids, 17 grand kids and 4 great grand kids and I build electric propulsion systems for boats today and still play. Clarence set my life where it is today after speaking with him for 5+ hours on the night they came to Alb. Bruce was too busy to talk to, Clarence was Alone, I spent time with the soul that changed my life! He was the one I ,needed at that time in my life to direct me in my journey. I am so grateful and we will play again when it is my time to join him! I look forward to that day, and jamming with all the others that have gone on, We will jam one day! Today I make electric boats, 3HP - 100HP Electric is the way to go and we are looking at 360VDC Power. And I thought I would get away from arc flash potential. I've always been an electrician. 60 years and counting. Still have both Fretless and Fretted Basses. I will take them to the grave with me. Both custom, Both beautiful! I miss all our musicians that have passed and 1 day, We Will JAM TOGETHER!! I want to jam with so many that have past and so many that have not, just do not have that opportunity today. Life, covid, kids, grand kids, My daughter is recovering from brain surgery to remove a tumor on her brain stem, Life just grabs ya after you are not doing this day to day. I have not payed since 1995. How's that? Last gig. But, all that happened after, I am greatful for. I miss playing, I will again, and I will retire and then pich that bad old bass up once again and make some NOISE!!

When I was an infant my parents would sing Springsteen songs to me to get me to sleep cos they didn’t know any lullabies. Their love of the music made by these amazing people transferred to me at a very young age, and when in fourth grade I was able to chose an instrument to play, I chose the saxophone. I grew up surrounded by the sound of E street band, and whenever over the years I felt like quitting playing the instrument I just pictured the big man Clarence Clemons in his black floor length trench coat, shades on, blasting some of the greatest noise ever made and got back to practicing. Over the course of 9 years I continued with the saxophone, and when my SAT scores turned out to be slightly lower than average, I was able to use my abilities on the horn to get me into my first choice college to major in saxophone performance. Had it not been for The Big Mans influence in my life I can say easily that I would not be where I am today. Rest in peace Clarence, you mean the world to me.

I've got a true story for you Jarod, relayed to me by my brother, who had a chance encounter with your dad. My brother was living in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1988 when Bruce and the E St. Band were on the Tunnel of Love tour. He was hired by the Centrum Centre arena to work the show (I believe he said it was for multiple nights). After a long day's work, my brother said he finally sat down to eat a jumbo sized sub sandwich he had brought with him. He said just as he had taken his first bite, a large hand moved in front of him, making its way toward his sandwich. My brother said his first thought was that one of his other brothers was trying to steal his food, like when he was a kid. He looked up and who was standing there? Who else, but your dad, Clarence. He said, Clarence told him, "That looks pretty good" and my brother said he jumped up in amazement and could only say, "You want some? To which Clarence offered his hand, smiled and said, "I'm just having fun with ya." It's been part of our family lore now for over 30 years, a treasured memory. My brother's only regret: he didn't use a napkin to wipe his hand before he shook hands. Apparently he had a glob of mayo on his thumb. Still, whenever he tells the story he always finishes with, "I shook Clarence Clemons' hand."

Oh Clarence...we miss you, Big Man. A Bro-mance of epic proportions between you and Bruce, and it showed in the music. You must be proud of your Nephew, and smiling down on him. He's carrying the torch, and doing a great job. Must be some mind-blowing jam sessions in Heaven.

I finally got to see Bruce on his most current tour. What an epic show. I wish I could have seen him while Clarence was still alive.

My first recollection of Bruce and The 'E' Street Band was when The River album was released in 1980. Capital Radio (London) was a station that I listened to most of the time. Tracks from the album kept going to number one in the listeners choice. That was the first album I bought and still play today. I saw them together in the Born in the USA tour at Wembley. Brilliant. In 2016, I was dropping hints to my family about the Springsteen tour. I was expecting to get a ticket for my birthday to one of their Paris concerts. Birthday arrived, no ticket. Despite all of my hints, they never got them! I'll have to treat myself when he's next on tour!

I'm old enough to say I have the fondest memories of Clarence playing with Norman in Fair Haven NJ at Lock, Stock and Barrel in 79? Gary Tallent also played as did Kristian Rex. Both Clarence and Gary lived in Sea Bright and were fixtures in Jersey Shore clubs. Clarence was the pied piper. Were it not for these gigs I never would have met my husband. I think I have Clarence to thank for that.
