In using the concept of "Better times", I was reminded of all the people who have asked about Clark and Subic Bay through the years following the evacuation.
Since I documented Americans and Filipinos in their day to day lives at various Philippines locations from 1988 until the 1991 evacuation, I've attempted to temper the bitter with the gentle sweet of the past. The many thousands of miltary members who served at Clark Air Base will remember Cope Thunder exercises documented in this piece. This captured the pride of a visiting Thai air force, who brought their F-16 aircraft to participate January 1990.
Others may be delighted to relive scenes of the various base clubs, streets and other facilities that served us so well.
My next video entry will lean more toward recent developments that have occurred since our departure.
Yes! Clark, Subic Bay and other Luzon-area locations have come along way and flourished quite remarkably since the events of Mt. Pinatubo. Many will be pleasantly surprised with modern-day images of Pampanga Province, around Air Force City at Clark and Subic's changes toward becoming a special economic duty-free zone of commerce.
Stay Tuned...
