A white man, who is a fine classical Hollywood actor, alongside being the definition of "tall, dark, and good-looking", AND a civil rights activist in the pre-MLK era?! Wow. They sure don't make actors like they used to (compared to Clark Gable, there are so few men who measure up that much today). He is the reason why I watched Gone with the Wind. He brought Rhett Butler into life so much that no one else can replace him in that role. Plus, the fact that he was so cool makes my respect increase!

Although GWTW has its many problems, the scenes with Hattie McDaniel and Clark Gable are the best because you can really seen the mutual respect they have for eachother. Clark Gable was that type that hated the world he lived in. So he let those who didn't look deeper, those who stayed on the surface he let them FEEL IT. When wealthy people only saw his good looks and not his depth he handled them like they handled him. Like a tool. They used him for his looks n bragging rights. He used them for money and connections. The parts of the world he did hold dear, he did respect he also let them FEEL IT hence fighting for fairness and rights. He loved Hattie McDaniels. Gable was a big hunter, and he would travel to a hunting lodge in Baja California. My stepfather (passed away in 2017 at 93), told me how as a boy, when a plane landed (yes, they flew in), he would run to plane to carry bags for tips. He told me Gable gave him a whole dollar! 🔥 I’ve read several accounts of Clark Gable’s life. It’s been written that he was a clean freak & had a special portable shower, he could utilize wherever he was, sometimes showering up to four times a day! We’ve all heard the rumors of his bad breath. I find this a bit difficult to believe that someone who was so clean on his person & who had numerous affairs, would neglect his oral hygiene to the point of odiferous breath. Considering the time in which he lived, it would make more sense to consider the possibility that perhaps the denture adhesive he used was foul smelling, not his actual breath.

@@BluePea88 An oral infection is definitely a possibility, but wouldn't it have to be ongoing for him to be labeled as having bad breath? If it was ongoing, eventually, wouldn't it have caused other health issues? He was the King of Hollywood, so the rumor could have been started by someone who envied him & wanted to be cruel without damaging his career. Truely, I don't understand it. We're told that he & Joan Crawford had an affair for years & she too, was supposed to be a fanatic about cleanliness. If his breath was bad, after taking one herself, so as not to offend him, wouldn't she have offered him a breath mint? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I feel the most famous actors/actresses play themselves. What you see is what you get. We are only human.

🔥In conclusion, once again, people are complex and not one dimensional. But holy mole I had no idea this was his story, how did I not know this about one of the most famous actors ever? He was VERY handsome indeed, and as beautiful were Carol Lombard and Loretta Young. All of them really, gorgeous.

After he appeared without an undershirt in "It Happened One Night", Amercian men stpped wearing undershirts. It bad always been a thing, and that dissapeered after the movie was released. So he had a big impact right away!

Stunning looking man! I always heard he was a stand up, great guy! So I never knew about his Jekyl & Hyde personalities. I guess it depended who you were to him as to how you were treated & ultimately thought of him. Super interesting guy. Great video 🔥

Just a guess; probably a narcissist. Image management. The mask they wear is very charming. Very duplicitous.

Thank you for this in depth commentary! I’ve always had the biggest crush on the late Clark Gable ever since I 1st saw him in “Gone with the Wind”. My big sister was an old movie buff & she took a 10-year old me to the theater where they showed classics. I never knew he was so layered! I believe that nobody is all good or bad & that we’re all a mixture of both. The fact that he was a notorious womanizer & possibly bisexual doesn’t surprise me. The man was stunning. If he SA’d Loretta Young, it may have been because he was so used to women (& men) falling at his feet. As an Aquarius, they are known for humanitarianism & fighting for justice. All in all, this gives great insight into one of my favorite actors. 🔥🔥🔥

Clark was drop-dead gorgeous, but sounds like a true narcissist. We don't know that his philanthropy wasn't externally motivated. I don't know, but he's actions with regard to women were sketchy as hell.

Noooo Clark Gable was cuter than Clooney. Even though he had those bad hygienes and now I'm finding out he slept with men... Unbelievable 😳🤯 It shouldn't be surprising to find out that he did sleep with men to get ahead. This may be the reason why he became a heavy drinker or comparable alcoholic. Sometimes when people do things they don't expect of themselves or are traumatized, they go to substance abuse, alcohol and drugs 🔥🔥❤️💋

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 really good...I'm a huge fan of classic movies going as far back as the silent era. I too, know much about the stars of the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. Everything you stated about Clark Gable was on point! Not only did he attend Hattie McDaniel's parties but at times, after a hard night of drinking, he would show up at her house on any given Sunday morning and she would make him breakfast! Truly they were friends ❤❤❤❤

Accused is still presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Loretta Young had an obvious reason for saying it was not consensually. She definitely proved she was a liar and she waited til he was dead to make the accusation. I like that Crawford and he met for decades , thru their own marriages and they knew enough that they never made demands on one another

Loretta Young wasn't lying. Her daughter even looks like Clark Gable, and when they met, he imediatly recognized her as his daughter. But her daughter st that Point didn't want anything to do with him. And yes she waited after is death ți coem to light about the râpe because she was still afraid of him. She was a used by this big figure în Hollywood and she knew they woudl silence her or she would be suffering, not him. Those where other times, things were different and she took alot of courage and alot of time to be able to tell the truth
