A Napier fanfare at Barrow Hill Roundhouse, as D9015 Tuylar's No.1 Engine roars into life, a sight not seen publicly for 27 years. Power Unit 538 was started up without issue, having last ran in 2019 with 55009 before a generator failure pulled the unit for overhaul work. PU417 however was deemed a failure, with the engine needing to be swapped with an alternative serviceable power unit before D9015 can fully return to traffic. Despite this, it was a delight for many to see No.15 live once more.
Whilst the day's attention was largely focused on D9015, the Deltic Preservation Society's other two locos could also be viewed around the site, with 55009 'Alycidon' sat on display in the society shed, and 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier' located by Roundhouse Halt, with the loco freshly returned to traffic, and due to leave Barrow Hill on Monday for the Great Central Railway.
