I am so proud of all of them ! It isn’t meant to sound angry for people asking why, in my opinion at least. These kids are being taught leadership and confidence and how to be an active responder to leadership in a collaborative group, until they lead themselves. It’s really powerful. Many of the kids in the program much like rotc don’t necessarily find military careers. Also love the cadence caller they rock ! It was hypnotic.

Plus much of the aggression used in military training is to prepare people to overcome what many people would shy away from, it’s an incredible thing to see such young people be so strong together and as individuals. Really proud of them all.

Why’s that? It’s not hell night and this is something 99% of families see through the gates on matriculation day.

Wtf!! This is suppose to be break out. Im not for any type of bullying/hazing bull shit, but this is complete crap.2007 break out took me 4 hours just to get up stairs to my room and I was proud that I made it up there. And I’m sure it was even worse back in the day. This institution is suppose to be hard and difficult, because if it wasn’t any one could go there and graduate. Besides getting a great education, the best lessoned I learned from the school was leadership. I learned from some great upper class men, tact officers and professors, but even more influential on me was the horrible/ bad leaders. I learned more from them than anyone else. They taught me what not to do and how not to treat people. So that when I moved on in the school and in life I took those lessons I learned as a knob going through those tough hard nights, dealing with those ass hole squad sergeant messing up your room when u have a exam and a paper due the next day. It was stressful, but it created who I am today and I would do it all over again. I never write on comment board at all, but I had to say something if this is going to be the new PC CITADEl then we should be embarrassed. We are already the smartest out of every other private military, especially VMI. We can excel in our academics without losing our traditions that really makes the school what it is. One day I want to send my son there, but if it keeps going down this path then I might have to send me to point or Annapolis 👎

This isn’t hell night, it’s just them meeting their cadre, then getting them to lunch before we start training.

A lot more intimidating in person lol. I didn’t go to the citadel however I did matriculate at VMI and it was actually relatively similar to this. I’ve got mad respect for those who can complete hell week at any of these great military institutions as I did not. It has been 3 weeks since I failed VMI hell week and I still get inane anxiety from it.

It doesn't need to be anymore than you needed the 1960's hazing. Evolution to remain competitive.
