There is a lot of great funky Ethiopian music too. I had a Serbian buddy at work who would constantly send me links for cool Ethiopian music because he knew I had been born in and lived in Africa (South Africa). :)

Yes there is! I have talked about a couple before but not too in depth.
I don't own any African music, but have heard of Analog Africa. I will have to check out what is on there and start to keep an eye out during my digging. Thanks for another GREAT video as always :) 'Angola'

Cool stuff my sista! I'll definitely look into these comps and Pasteur Lappe... Are you familiar with Soukous? It's a musical genre from Congo. If not, you should check out artists like AURLUS MABELE ( and his band LOKETO), PAPA WEMBA, SAHLOMON & KOFFI OLOMIDE. Great vid as always 👌🏾❤️

Having been born in South Africa myself before immigrating to Canada with my family, I highly recommend an album called 'Ipi Tombi' (from 1975) by Bertha Egnos and Gail Lakier which is a South African musical with lots of great songs and rhythms including the title song 'Ipi Ntombi', 'Shosholoza' (the working song), 'The Warrior', etc. Many of these songs can be found here on KZitem and there are single LP and double LP versions of this album with the double LP including more of the story and not just the songs as with the single LP version. :)
Which word? None popped up. But yes, I’d like a deeper dive. A mix? Killer idea. Anything that has a Hendrix vibe is up my alley. That first one you played had a Caribbean vibe. Again, if it is reminiscent of screaming jay Hawkins it’s definitely for me.

Hi! Great stuff. I love African music from the seventies. A unique period in music history. I'm sure the percusive polyrhythms must have influenced many others. Some fantastic albums, that still elude from my collection. Stay funky. Cheers. /Paul

I enjoyed this video - I was into world music in the 80's buy only a couple of music stores carried it and only on CD because vinyl was on the way out - I would really like to see more and remixes.

Im glad you did, Tom. You are so the person that I try to target. Musically open minded spirits.
