I am with you sir, I have never found anything that has come close to how amazing this show was. It had everything, highs lows, funny, sad. And the way it was written gave a really good sense of real life. You could understand their struggles and their family banter. Roger was just an absolute legend of an actor. So many of the best have now passed. May they all rest in peace.

@@johnniethepom7545 I mean they were outstanding class of actors, but I saw Roger on a book singing video and he seemed so humble and such a quietly spoken man, and for him to act the way he did, it is amazing. Trigger was the class clown of the friendship circle, but the one we all loved the most. I actually recently saw a video about John Challis's Grave. On his headstone at the bottom it says ''I am Here'' and I loved that. Even in his passing he took that classic comedy with him, rest their souls.

I completely agree sir. It's very clever comedy also, as a lot, if not all of it can be related to. Also the way John Sullivan use to be able to take a somber mood to a happy one was incredible. For example, Grandad's funeral. Went from tears at Grandad's grave to laughter when the vicar asked who's seen his hat, within 5 seconds. Genius writer.

I think American comedy is scared to push boundaries in case they offend. I once watched a stand up American guy, and he couldn't believe the way British people talk to their friends. They insult eachother and see the funny side and even take the mick out of them selves. For him as an American, that wasn't humour, it's insulting. Which is true but they didn't see the funny side. And that reserved humour, I find is the difference.

Yeah, that kind of felt like all the struggles are over for the family and they finally made it. I think they made £1 for every time Del said ''This time next year, we'll be millionaires'' lol. But I guess with all climbs comes falls, and I did enjoy the way they brought them back. One of my favourite bits was when Del & Rodney saw the will lawyer, the bit when Del & Rodney spoke of prison lol and the other bit where the others sat and discussed what might happen. Just class. I honestly would love to see Only Fools And Horses back like it use to be, but sadly so many of the great actors have passed now, maybe being able to re watch it is how it should live on.

@@loyalsupportisthebestever That show was great, until Kris Marshall left and then it was never the same again. But here, they managed to overcome the loss of actors such as Lennard Pearce , who played Granddad Trotter and Kenneth MacDonald, who played the Nags Head Landlord, Mike Fisher, and bring in great replacements for both of them. I think it’s because John Sullivan had the good sense not to try and bring in another actor and pretend that he was the same person whom we had watched for years and whom we all knew full well had died; rather he chose to address the loss and then let the new man bring his own character to life. In Uncle Albert’s case I think that Buster Merryfield’s character was even better than Granddad because he was more robust. I can also tell that he must’ve been a powerful man when he was young because you could clearly see the muscle development in his arms and shoulders. He was an interesting replacement for the slightly senile Grandad, being sharper in the mind. As for Roy Heather who played the grumpy cafe owner-cum-pub landlord, Sid Robertson, he was a convincing replacement as he was an experienced businessman who provided an interesting contrast to the usually cheerful Mike. He was already known by the viewers for his occasional appearances as the cafe owner so it seemed natural for him to step up into a bigger role.

Oh, I completely agree. Nick was the true soul to the show. Spot on with that. They did do an amazing job with new actors. What I loved about Mike is he always tried to bring a smile and everyone was miserable, then Sid came in and everyone was happy and he was miserable lol. Joh Sullivan was an amazing writer. I watched the story of Only Fools And Horses, and John said he based it all on his life. What he saw. He said the card game was based on him coming home and his dad and mates would be playing cards. Rodney said he knew a friend who was always doing something with his hands, so he kind of took inspiration from him. It was beautifully done. Even at grandad's funeral they managed to take a sad moment to a funny one. Truly talented. Amazing actors, rest in peace to those who have passed. Cracking interview from 1994 with Buster Merryfield. kzitem.info/news/bejne/wqB-0YxmnIV2Z4Y He was jacked for his age. Very strong man.
