I enjoy seeing something like this, I've been driving Alfa Romeo's for 12 years now and totally understand the bond...

I'm up in Edmonton with a 1985 Alfa Spider that started life as a new car in Japan, and was later imported into Canada. NO Rust ! Tidied it up last winter. Have to watch the fuel pressure on those Webers as they don't like high fuel pressure. Mine has the 2 twin solex carbs and I was plagued with a rough idle on a sporadic basis. I adjusted the fuel pressure regulator from 4.5 PSI down to 1.5-2.0 PSI and now it idles smoothly. I drove it from Edmonton to Victoria and back last summer with no issues. My best MPG was 42MPG @ 100KPH Jasper to Kamloops. Alfa's are in a Class by themselves when it comes to the Driving Experience.

Great story, great car, always encouranging seeing younger enthusiest like yourself appreciate the basics that made all of us become car lovers. You are part of the reason Porsche brought back the manual gearbox in 2018, just for the joy of truly driving.

What a great story! It brought back lots of memories. I bought my first car in 1981 - a 1974 Alfa GTV. I've been driving modern Porsches for years now, but I'll always have a soft spot for GTV's!

both great brands, unfortunately Alfa nowdays is a Chrysler/Fiat with nothing left from the old days while the german still has his attitude. For nothing else i'd give up the smell of my 1974 GTV

I've loved little Alfa coupes since I saw them blasting around Rome in '69. Then in '83 I became buddies with a guy with a '72 GTV two litre, dual Webers. I drove that thing all over Memphis and Shelby Forest. What fun. What a beautiful exhaust note. Then a few years later he sold it and bought a '68 XKE 2+2 that was worn out, but ladies liked it. Broke my heart. He also had an early 2002 tii that was great fun to drive. So nimble and quick. But less musical and sexy.

In the early 1980s in the UK you could buy one of these for £200 - £300. I went to look at a metallic gold one with a black vinyl interior. An MOT failed car. The seller wanted £250. I decided against it. I should have filled a barn with them. More fool me.
