I was 9 years old in '55 . The neighbors down the street bought this same color, but it was a 6 with 3 speed manual and a radio

This is a sweet vehicle though. The tu tone color combination, the brightness of the red matching color keyed rims on the wheels, and the hood ornament give it an upscale ambiance. Also the interior trim has a higher end look. A sweet vehicle.

I absolutely love this car! I've had 15 55 Chevys over the last 50 some years but only a couple have I regretted selling. My first one was a del-ray, red, 265, 4.11 gears etc... I called about this car a few years ago but it was already sold. I have had show cars "55"s that I quickly became bored with drag cars also but I would rather have this one than any of them. I'm 73 now but this one would make me feel 17 again! Thank God he didn't ruin it with all the crap they put on them now.

Older video, BEAUTIFUL 55 Chevrolet, this is a perfect example of a original style 55, lot of people modify these Cars to a point, all the originality is gone, this is one of sharpest 55's I've seen, THANKS for sharing a true CLASSIC 55 Chevrolet!

There ya go! No tacky bullshit, no ugly ill conceived and poorly executed "upgrades" just a righteous '55 that is what it is, a regular guy's daily driver. My absolute favorite. Honesty in it's purest form! Beautiful.

Cars were simple back then. No expensive electronics instrument panels with unnecessary gadgets wich make the car and insurance much more expensive

Wow. My uncle Matt had a Del Rey almost exactly like this with the exception of the drivetrain and we replaced the dog dish hubcaps with deluxe ful face. He bought it new in 1955 with a 6 banger and 3 spd with od. The same gypsy red white top and even white and black interior.I thought this was it.when he died he left it to his daughter. We showed it for years and he was always proud it.

Gotta love that "bathroom tile" treatment Chevy put on the inside walls & seats! Beautiful bare-bones car, just wish it was a 3 on the tree.

I mean modern, good, cars like Toyotas are able to go 400k plus miles without being rebuilt. This thing would be clapped out around a little over 100k. my grandad bought a 58 E. Brougham with the stainless roof. bought it new after making partner at a firm and used it all the way till 2009 when he couldn't drive it anymore. had the drivetrain rebuilt and replaced MANY of times and we use to joke that the only thing original was the roof and the steering wheel. Like clockwork around 80-110k miles either rebuilt or replace the drivetrain.

I did not know Chevy had a "Del Ray" in 1955. I thought their model designations were 150, 210 and Bel Air in ascending order of cost. I know there was a Del Ray positioned below the Biscayne in 1958 for that one year only as the BelAir and the Impala were vying for top positioning.

I believe this is exactly the same make, model and color as a car owned by James Dean with one exception -- the interior bathroom tile color was red and white and not black and white.

I think the first thing I would do is take it over to Vintage Air and have a heater and an air condition installed nowadays you need that especially heater good Lord I care about back then they could sell a car with no heater?
@larryhawkins3294

Just like in the 60s. Many people who ordered high end cars like some Cadillacs, Olds 98, Buick Electras and Chrysler New Yorkers chose not to order air conditioning because they lived in the Northeast or the Northwestern parts of the country where the heat of the summer was not as oppressive.
