The controls are easily adjusted, in terms of sensitivity, and makes it a far far more pleasant game to play. The steering wheel is great and the game really stands up well today, looks lovely, 60 fps and sounds fantastic. This and F355 are amazing games on the DC

Played this arcade game at a bar once. The bar had two of these Daytona USA cabs that were hooked up to do a 2 player race. Really enjoyed playing this awesome racer and now it is available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 so downloaded that and I am set. All I need is a wheel. Nearly got a Dreamcast for this game and a few others on the system. Good review Mark!

AWESOME! I wish this version was released on Xbox Live. I always thought the arcade version was the definitive version of the game. I forgot about this one. This was really an iconic game back in the day. Never played the Deamcast version, I missed that console, skipped from N64 to PS2, but loved it in the arcade. Funny since in the local arcade, just about all the games are only a few years old, but the still have 8 of these things all lined up and ready to play. Really shows how even and old game can still be great. Wish they still had Hydro Thunder too though. The replacement racers look better, but aren't as fun.

ROLLING START!!! I loved this game so much way, way back in the day of the Sega Saturn. I remember slowly knocking the road cones around the stage, quite impressed by this strange new, quite alien concept of 3D. I worked all summer to buy a Saturn (I was a wee lad but I managed to find a job), and while the game looked less impressive at the time than a need for speed for the 3DO( a game had been playing for a year prior to mySaturn investment), I still believed it was much more amazing.

I agree with Mark entirely -- Daytona for the Dreamcast could have been great, but they messed up the handling pretty bad. I'll reevaluate it if I ever get a DC wheel, but with the gamepad, it's just far too sensitive. The Saturn versions have better controls, particularly with wheel or joystick...

A lot of people who don't have opportunity of owning the DC racing wheels, don't know that you can actually adjust the steer responsiveness down for the hand controllers. Go into your game controller settings. It is not a fixed setting like Virtual On for the DC. This should make this great game a lot more playable, and not one to pass up because of its play difficulty.

I can vouch for the racing wheels making this game way better. It doesn't feel rubbery or touchy at all with a wheel; it's surprisingly natural. I still play it with the pad though because of how my living room is set up-- you can get used to it for sure.

They still have this game at the local Dave and Busters. They have 8 of them linked together and it is one of the most popular games there. 1993 and still kicks a**! Dreamcast -version of Daytona USA is unique. It's likely best console exclusive game for the system. Is there even ever made other racer with detailed enviroments, free of any pop-up, 40 cars on screen at once, - all that locked 60FPS!? Controlling it via standart Dreamcast controller works great. -You just have to let go/loose gas trigger way advance before corner comes.

+Jawan / With "keeping value" I suppose you mean they´re not as much fun after a while? Yeah, that´s absolutely true. And the reason for that is simple. Old games were mostly arcade style games. (Like Daytona USA here) They were easy to get into, seemed easy on the surface, but were difficult to master. They were simplistic but generally executed perfectly. They had to be fun and addicting to eat your dimes. That´s why Tetris will still be fun in a hundred years, while some big triple A game from today might not live to be celebrated in 10 years from now. Also, besides the indie-scene, todays games move more and more in the same direction. It´s either ego shooters, racing sims or adventure games or rpgs. The rich selection of games from 20 years ago is gone forever. Certain types of games will not be made anymore in the future. So it´s even more fun to dig into the past and revisit or discover great games you never knew about. It´s like with music. The real gems lie in the past. Everything is based on repetition of success, basically since the beatles. So it´s good to find out that you can give your old systems love and they will love you back :)
