I own this game still today, and apart from loving this game, gameplay, and music CGR is completely correct the music in this game is just as memorable as the game itself. Every great once and awhile I pop this disc into my CD player to listen to the games stage music. (one of the awesome features about Sega CD games is they can also played in a CD player along with being a game.)

The best home version of Final Fight during the 16 bit era, the best soundtrack!
@DTM-Books

My favorite version of Final Fight, all because of that rockin' soundtrack. Sega did "cheesy but good" '80s rock better than anyone. It defined them as much as the Genesis or Sonic. The Sega CD actually had a pretty solid library. I think people expected too much of the new format at the time, as CD-ROM had this mystical power that was supposed to completely reinvent video games. In the end, the system has aged very gracefully and we're far more forgiving.

Yep. IMO Street Fighter 2 Special Champion Edition is better than Street Fighter 2 Turbo for the SNES and Street Fighter 2 CE for the PC Engine but Man SF2 for the Sega CD would have been probably Great and hands down the best port at the time especially if Capcom would have treated it the same as they did with Final Fight CD (which IMO nothing on the PC Engine CD can compare to it).

First off thank you, I love the fact that you sound like the promo videos for arcade games that arcade owners would watch to decide whether they were interested in the game or not. Second, a SEGA fanboy just like me, bought the Genesis when i was 11 and now have nearly 200 games for the system. SEGA!!!!

Such a fun classic game. It kind of bugged me that in the US ver, when you beat up the car in the bonus level, that instead of using the arcade audio file for the guy who comes in and says "oh my god..." they used the SNES audio file (very low quality) of him saying "oh my car". The JP ver was spot on to the arcade. Not to mention that they had made a few minor changes to the characters (like the girls wearing shorts instead of short skirts). Still a great game to play.

I love Final Fight and I was blown away when I got it for my Sega CD when it came out. What does bother me is the characters when they are grappling looks strange at times...almost as if they were super imposed with the background. Watch when Hahgar slam someone on the ground. You can really see it with Haggar swinging the pipe it almost seems as if hovers out of his hands for a few frames...Even though this game was excellent it is still not as good as Streets of Rage 1+2.

@@Sinn0100 I like the music and sound effects and how smooth Final Fight CD Japanese Version plays compared to Streets Of Rage 2 even though SOR2 has some of the best music and sound effects in the 16 Bit Era too. I just like Final Fight CD a tad bit more. Streets Of Rage 2 is better than Final Fight for the SNES IMO. And I prefer Bare Knuckle 2 Japan Version over the SOR 2 American Version.

That's the part of the screen that normally falls into the overscan area of your TV. Most games on Sega's 16-bit consoles fill the entire screen with a single solid background color and then draw the rest of the scene on top of that. In this case, what you're seeing is the color of the sky in the background.

The voice acting is hilarious. The voice for Damnd/Thrasher doesn't sound anything like the character. I've always been curious about Final Fight CD. The arrange soundtrack sounds awesome and this is the only version with voice dialogue. It would have been nice if they included the voice acting and arrange soundtrack with Final Fight Double Impact on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

My 2nd favorite beat em up after Streets of Rage 2. I have been playing this game since I was 3 years old in 1990 (arcade at Pizza Hut). It took me a long time to accept the fact that I do indeed like Streets of Rage 2 more. At this point I would rather play the Sega CD port then the arcade, more balanced and way better music. For me this is the only reason to truly own a Sega CD not for those RPG's, Shmups or that horribly overrated Sonic CD.

Ahh! If I ever get an NES I will certainly be getting that little gem (I live in the UK so we generally didn't have NES as kids, just coal to rub on our cheeks, whipping tops and an orange at Christmas if we were lucky. And regular thrashings..), its really quite unknown and underappreciated.. FInal Fight mets River City Ransom, squished down with ultra deformed cutesy characters and sharp gameplay, whats not to like? The expressions on the characters faces and all those details are awesome! :)

...I own both also, considering that the SNES version didn't use any "CD"...it was amazing. Sure it may have missed guy and a few other thing. If you compare the SegaCD music to the Arcade...it sounds nothing alike (though I do like the remix version of the SegaCD as well). While the SNES version is right on with music, graphics and sound effects...and the SNES version came out waaaay earlier. A stand alone game with a stand alone system is better then any add-on.

The music and sound were definitely better than any other home port at the time, but I always felt the colors were a little off, kinda washed out and not quite as vibrant as the arcade. Still, it was the most accurate and least-compromised way to play this game at home in the 90s.

Not a fan of the remixed music, but for it's time it was about the best port of this game around (in Japan the Sharp X68000 has a near arcade perfect port with original arcade music).The only issue, since this game is a quarter eater, if you don't get good at it, you won't finish it on the Sega CD (the X68K version actually has a few more continues to work with, up to 9). These days when I play Final Fight, it's on Capcom Classics Collection PS2 (I also have the SNES one around, never touch it).
