A different variation we like is Mexican Goulash: Add a packet of taco seasoning, to your ground beef, onion & tomato mixture. When it's finished we add, sour cream, cheese, green onion tops & salsa.

Yeah and don't forget the fried potatoes. I grew up on all that too and boiled cabbage . fried Chicken..... I remember when I was in grade walking home from school and coming around before I got around that corner I could smell my mama's fried chicken and that smell I can still smell it... There ain't nothing like a mother's cooking. God rest my parents soul.. I miss them so much.. that was way back in the day when America was good... And the food back then was delicious........ the food here nowadays don't taste that good whatever they're doing or doing to our food...

We love goulash and have it frequently. My son always asks me to make it. You are so right about the tomatoes. I always use whole tomatoes in most dishes like chili, spaghetti sauce, etc. there is a difference in texture and flavor. I have never put corn in my goulash but I will try it. Thanks for the excellent video.

Your tutorials ROCK and takes me back to the way my MomZ cooked back in The Day. And another thing. My momz is 96 and does not remember much these days. I'll ask, Momahhhhh...how did you make this or that and she don't remember. I said that to say this; there was no youtube in my mommy's days, but there is ink and paper. Your descendants may be able to watch a video but it's a good thing to write them out cuz cooking good meals for family says "I LOVE YOU" and we need to keep that love, just the way it was given, in our lives to pass on to generations that follow.

Dearest Friend, I make my goulash with crushed tomatoes and pre boiled elbow macaroni. I do the same with the hamburger meat but let it and the tomatoes simmer together for awhile. I’ve never put in corn. I add brown sugar. After simmering I add the macaroni. After the kids grew up I started adding my home made stewed tomatoes yummy, yummy. Your KeyLime Friend 💕🙏🙏

I do not buy anything but whole peeled tomatoes anymore. I just find that the quality of the pre chopped tomatoes is not as good. And it’s that way even in the higher end brands. Even when it comes to rotel , I buy whole peeled canned tomatoes and I buy the 55 guys roasted green chilis or I will buy fresh chilis and quickly roast and peel my own. Or there is a frozen brand called bueno New Mexico green chilis. It only takes a few minutes to do so. I just find a lot of stems in any of the chopped tomatoes It’s like they used a lot of their leftovers or something. The flavor is better with the whole.

Goulash, or as my Dad called it, Slumgully, has hundreds of variations no doubt. My Mom use to make a dish called macaroni and tomatoes, no meat, and just salt and pepper for seasoning. It was good, but I liked Dads better with the browned hamburger onions, peppers, and italian spices. He used the whole canned tomatoes, and tomato sauce as well. Love that Tee Shirt. Thanks for old timey recipes.

That's exactly how I make mine but I've never added corn. May have to try that. I do add a little sugar and bacon grease is essential! I have to say I have a tendency to go a little heavy with the bacon grease. I like that taste with the tomatoes. I've only got 2 jars left of my whole tomatoes I canned the year before last. Between the drought, 100+ degree temps for days on end, and starving, thieving squirrels, I was lucky enough to get enough for a few tomato sandwiches early and that was it. 😮 Love you girl! Keep bringing us your delicious cooking and fun videos! ❤
