When I was a teenager back in the early 80s, I went through serious depression and the Honeymooners saved my life. Every night I would watch Ralph, Alice and Norton on a little TV next to my bed at night, and the laughter was enough to get me through the next day. I owe my life to that show, and to this day, if I ever feel sad, all i have to do is think of one of the shows. Thank you Honeymooners!

It was the tributes to Jackie Gleason as he had just passed away and my cousin said to watch the show at 11 o clock on channel 11as I'd love it and have been the biggest fan ever since .Mr Carney and Mr Gleason and Ms Meadows especially had the most wonderful working chemistry together . Nice. You know, I've got a lot of respect for the comedy writers of that era. They were so restricted as to what they could and couldn't do, and so many subjects were off-limits. So much of what passes for comedy today is lowest common denominator bedroom/bathroom/frat comedy.

I've seen every episode at least 100 times. Comedy is so timeless that it's just as funny today, as then. I grew up in Bensonhurst, oh boy what memories. Life was so much simpler then. My dad took me to Ebbet's, I remember after the game, if you sat on one side of the field and your subway stop was on the opposite side, you didn't walk all the way around the ball park, you were allowed to go onto the field and cut across, no one minded. Much simpler, and much nicer then, wasn't it?

Tyler Perry does this style of comedy skits. but like I mentioned. people talk shit and will call it corny. this era of Hollywood along with laurel and hardy , I love luck etc etc was DEFINITELY ahead of their time. and has GREATLY influenced what we no today as comedy in hollywood

People don't realize it (because there were 39 episodes) but the Honeymooners only ran for ONE season! But back then it was on EVERY week for 9 months of the year (unlike the 24 episode seasons of the 80s and 90s and the 10 episode seasons of today) for a 39 episode season. Gleason declined to continue the show (and passed up the $7 million left on his contract) because he loved the show to much to keep going with sub-par ideas...and he felt they were running out of fresh material quickly. Amazing story.

One time, my husband was a bowling coach for a group of kids. To keep everyone having fun (they had little confidence as they were brand new to the game). He had a group that wanted him to bowl on their teams during a"bowl for big brothers/big sisters" bowlathon. It just so happened that he was caught on TV addressing his bowling ball with "hello, ball!" It was his final shot for his 300, which he got. That night, he saw himself on TV saying "hello, ball" and shooting the perfect game. Later that season, a team of five of his kids got 4th in state. At the end of the season, a group of parents bought a white bowling ball and wrote "hello coach!" On the other side, the kids all signed the ball.
