Here’s how I do it, there are other methods and tools available and others may have their own methods. This works for me, and this includes bigger V8 type engines also.
Really appreciate and enjoyed your video step by step guide on engines rebuild, keep up the fantastic work... Thanks

Thanks for this, you do the "deep dives" on these subjects like no-one else, and it is appreciated. One question: I have read elsewhere that the rear bearing should have the oil groove facing the front or inside of the block so as to collect oil splash. What is your reasoning for orienting it towards the oil pump (where I believe it would be dry) and at the top?

If you look at the oils pump they have a small hole to lubricate the rear cam bearing no need for any slot

Nice one. Not as hard as I thought to remove. Thanks for the video.

Brilliant…. I removed my bearings w/o hiccup, but this was wonderful to see before installing. Thanks for sharing. Although curious as to the method used to ensure all the metal shavings from the grinder were removed from the oil hole/gallery

The block is flushed through before building. The oil ways are deplugges and parrafin/brake cleaner is blown through together with the use of engine cleaning brushes.

TMF+ Member 415 posts Great video I got some original cam bearings (austin rover)from rimmer Bros for 998cc engine The large bearing the one on water pump side has the hole smaller than the original one installed.can it be drilled larger? I got some things from med engineering So I got their acl cam bearings I was told there top quality. The two smaller acl bearings are missing the notches /cut outs for oil flow as per original that are fitted. Also the larger bearing has a smaller hole . The acl ones seem really good quality. What's worrying me is on the two smaller bearings they are missing the notches Which I belive are very important. One notch is missing on the small bearing and two notches are missing from the middle bearing. The larger bearing has the notch But has a smaller hole What's your thoughts about this?
