I think both Metal Mans look good, but I gotta give it to Exe. Classic is more just a guy with saws glued to him, Exe though looks like a big hunk of steel with saws coming off. He really sells being metal. Air Man I have a hard time deciding. I like the simplicity of classic, but Exe something just looks better about, but also a little busy. I'd say for me, they are a draw. Bubble Man classic wins. There's not much that needs to be said. Exe looks weird. Quickman Exe is just Quick Man, but cooler and with a sharper silhouette. Quick Man was already kinda cool though. Flashman Exe takes it for me, his design is close to if not perfection seeming to take inspiration from LEDs and pulling it off. He's one of the sickest navis in concept and execution. Not that Flash Man wasn't a great design to start with. Heat Man is adorable, but Exe is pretty hardcore. I'd give them a draw; both are so good. Wood Man has to be a draw too. I don't particularly like either one, but neither is offensive.

I almost gave it to the original Bubble Man. Never really cared for his design until I actually gave it a thorough look, then found I wasn't giving him enough credit. The little goober, though...

I agreed with every single pick in your first video but I had different preferences for the first three.exe metal man looks too bulky and I appreciate og metal man’s slickness. Like you said he comes across as quick and precise. I slightly prefer exe air man because he has more elements thrown into him that kinda worked but I would’ve much prefered if the had a new design for him. Bubble men debate is one sided for me because as a kid og bubble man was my fav robot master and felt genuinely disappointed when I saw what did they do to him in MMBN

Because Proverbs 18:2, I shall also pick up where I left off in sharing my own preferences and thoughts about these designs. *For anyone who doesn't wanna read the original post,* let me cover the important bits. 0) Last time, I *finally* realized Roll.EXE has Proto Man's main color as her main color, and Proto Man.EXE has Roll's main color. 1) I'm focusing more on aesthetic, personality, and theme than gameplay. 2) Ties *are* allowed. 3) Nothing says I won't change my mind the next time I think about this. 4) I included Dr. Wily last time. *They're **_both_** still Dr. Wily;* it was just the _Mega Man NT Warrior_ cartoon and its follow-up series that refer to him as "Mr."; he's still a doctor according to the Mega Man Knowledge Base wiki. *Scores from the previous round:* Classic: 2 Battle Network: 5 Ties: 3 ExploDjinn made some *great* points last time and this time, and even swayed my opinions on a few, but *for my count,* Battle Network has the edge. *New general realizations:* Robot Masters and NetNavis *both* work better with built in battle masks as a standard "thing". Much like how it went from being a rarity in _Transformers_ to being common, if not the norm. I _think_ this helps so much because it gives two chances to get _the look_ right for a character. Yes, that is also double the chances of getting it wrong, but only messing up _both_ is going to really, really hurt a character's aesthetic. *Similarly,* whether it is canon or not, I think Robot Masters should be allowed retractable/convertible hands _a la_ Mega Man himself. I'll start things in the next post, because I went over the character limit...

*ROBOT MASTERS/NETNAVIS* *Metal Man* The first entry, and I had to almost completely rewrite it. For starters, I absolutely agree with what ExploDjinn mentioned in the video. Like, it is almost _scary_ because I wrote this *before* watching his segment on Metal Man versus MetalMan.EXE. The thoughts on the color scheme, the differences in ornamentation, the body shape discussion... even the bit about thinking _Classic_ Metal Man looks kinda like a doctor due to the face mask and head ornament! So I'll focus on some key (or fun) things that didn't occur to him (or at least, that he didn't mention). A) MetalMan.EXE was named HeavymetalMan.EXE in the North American adaptation of the anime. It is stupid and yet I love it! I'll actually refer to the Navi as HeavymetalMan.EXE, if only to make it easier to distinguish between the Robot Master and Navi when I discussing things. Considering his Navi counterpart looks and even _feels_ heavier than the Classic, it definitely works. B) _Classic_ Metal Man looks/feels a bit like a "ninja bot" but... C) ...somehow, he also feels _generic,_ which hurts him. HeavyMetalMan.EXE is dangerously close to this as well, but fares better. D) Oh, and _Classic_ Metal Man's head antennae remind me a bit of Optimus Prime. So yeah, if it wasn't clear, *HeavyMetalMan.EXE wins this.* *Air Man* Oh, this is funny. As with last time, I agree with _almost_ everything said in the video. The *massive* difference, is that *I prefer AirMan.EXE to Air Man.* Neither is my "favorite" character from their respective series, or even entry in that series *but* I've got more _honest_ fondness for AirMan.EXE than I do _Classic_ Air Man. Keep in mind, I've got a fanfic I _never_ finished for _Classic_ Air Man, basically my attempt at working out a storyline for a Mega Man Powered-Up 2 that will never be! _Short version_ is Mega Man "game overs" to Air Man, Air Man takes out the other Robot Masters for "reasons" I never finalized, and turns on Wily when the bad doctor lets it slip that "Oh, you were never even intended for combat. I just didn't have air conditioning, so I kept upgrading my fan so it, I mean *you,* could follow me around and keep me cool." ... *The changes made to Air Man's design that gave us AirMan.EXE **_work_** for me, so he wins it.* I like the added green and silver. I like how the contours and even sharp surfaces remind me of 50's(?) era sports cars *and* appliances. If this trying to take a goofy character seriously? _Maybe..._ or maybe that's part of the joke, like a "srs bizness" Dan Hibiki. *In defense of the general design,* though, let me point out that as a non-engineering layperson, _it makes sense._ I mean, assuming the "fan weapon" made sense at all, putting it on the torso _could_ make it easier for Air Man to brace himself and blow with full force. On a limb, he's _still_ gotta brace himself like that, but he'd be lopsided and/or off balance when he's not using it. Lastly, _some_ of my fondness for AirMan.EXE may stem from the TCG; I remember having a deck based around him. *Bubble Man* _Classic_ Bubble Man wins this one easily. *Yet again,* I ended up agreeing with most of what ExploDjinn said in the video, it is just that I enjoy the stuff going in _Classic_ Bubble Man's favor _more_ than I did the stuff going in BubbleMan.EXE's favor. One thing I want to make clear is, while I understand why _both_ "Bubble Men" are often seen as joke characters, an aquatic Robot Master is a _necessity_ for world domination. 71% of the Earth's surface is covered with water, after all. For whatever reason, the designers decided to skew "goofy" with the concept. A military grade robot optimized for aquatic assaults *but* still capable of plodding along on the land, following me all _Terminator_ style until it gets me? Imagine thinking you were safe until he just _floods_ the room and watches you drown to death... _Classic_ Bubble Man is one of the few Robot Masters who does what you'd _think_ Wily would do all the time; have insta-kill spikes on some part of his stage. In this case, on the ceiling since Mega Man will be jumping higher than he normally does due to the room being flooded. However, the "bubble" naming scheme, poor utilization of the Bubble Lead weapon (from a game design standpoint), *and* how goofy and chubby _Classic_ Bubble Man is drawn all suck away this potential "cool" aspect of the character. Which is why I understand folks embracing the even _goofier_ and _chubbier_ BubbleMan.EXE. Not me, though. XD *_Classic_** Bubble Man takes this.* *Quick Man* I try not to let a character's Stage/boss battle influence me too much for these but... it is so ingrained here, I can't separate myself from it, sorry! Y'know how _most_ people see Quick Man as this elite, speedy assassin? *I see **_Classic_** Quick Man as a hyperactive toddler who self-destructs when forced to hold still.* _Sometimes_ he's this elite assassin, running and leaping through the room while peppering you with shots from his weapon and its custom dispenser (or at least, it ain't the standard arm cannon). *Other times, he runs into the corner and... just keeps running.* I freely admit, a lot of this is born from frustration with him. Especially as I played Mega Man 3 (NES) before Mega Man 2 (NES), so I had to deal with the Doc Robot version of Quick Man. I give Quick Man bonus points for seemingly being a combination of superhero and one of said superhero's iconic villains, but that means admitting how much of his shtick is stolen from DC's The Flash and Captain Boomerang, which costs him. Seriously, I accidentally called him "Flash Man" a few times because of it. XP Quick Man's Stage just as easily works with either approach; insta-kill beams creating a gauntlet that requires both memorization and quick reflexes to safely navigate... but is it because Quick Man means business *or* because Quick Man is so chaotic that Wily knows its a crapshoot as to whether Mega Man encounters the killer ninja or strange kid in the corner? So... what about QuickMan.EXE? I like his more detailed look, or at least, I like it better than that of _Classic_ Quick Man. Instead of me thinking QuickMan.EXE is overdesigned, I think that _Classic_ Quick Man is _under_ designed. QuickMan.EXE enjoys two blades on his arms that can be combined to launch his boomerang attack. I don't know if - gameplay wise - they're any more useful than the Quick Boomerang was, but the "extra step" is stylish and not really a problem in my book. After all... NetNavis aren't actual, physical beings. *Absolutely this is a personal take, but QuickMan.EXE wins it.* Still to wordy, so a divide once again!

*Final Section* *Crash Man/Clash Man* No, I did *not* find a NetNavi counterpart; I'm just listing the two names the same _Classic Series_ character has been known as. Once again, I sound like a shameless ExploDjinn fanboy because I agree with his appraisal of Crash Man's look... but I didn't _know_ I'd like Crash Man. I mean, I thought I didn't! Orange is _not_ my favorite color. It isn't even in the Top 4 (Green, Black, Purple, then Pink, with Purple and Pink sometimes swapping). Blame it on being a messy child who grew into a mess adult, but I tend to avoid bright whites in my own look, because of how easily they'll show dirt or stains. XP I also like the helmet, maybe because of Avalanche's design in _X-Men: Evolution?_ I mean, that cartoon came out 12 years _after_ Mega Man 2, so it is _possible_ some of the character designers played Mega Man 2... I dislike the seemingly permanent "drill hands". So, am I going to compare and contrast him with Cache as well? *Not yet.* I only _just_ learned about Cache's existence. *He totally reminds me of Pyron.* Y'know, alien energy being bent conquest? From Darkstalkers? Especially in his second form? *It isn't Cache's turn yet, either.* I'll hold off until all is said and done, and _maybe_ I'll consider these characters for a true bonus round, where _instead_ of head to head, it is just a "Do I like this character's design: Yes or No?" If anyone thinks that is being unfair to the _Classic_ series as a whole or Crash Man in particular... things are going to get _very_ messy in the future, due to Mega Man 9 through Mega Man 11, miscellaneous side games, and NetOps. We haven't worried about NetOps yet... but is that fair to them? They're still characters, and some are quite nicely designed *GO GO MR. MATCH!* *Flash Man* Again, I'm *not* going to stress trying to restate all the factual aspects of Classic Flash Man's design versus FlashMan.EXE's design. _Most_ of the _subjective_ evaluations would also be the same. I'm *not* going to award this to FlashMan.EXE, however: I'm actually calling this one *a tie.* What makes this one _fun_ is that it is the *inverse* of the usual design differences: FlashMan.EXE has the simpler, more streamlined design down, while Flash Man gets to have the extra details that help the design _pop._ *Heat Man* I won't beat around the bust: *another tie.* I _want_ to just copy ExploDjinn, but I can't. The _reasons_ are the same, it is just that both designs hit me a little differently. I think I like how _Classic_ Heat Man's design reminds me a bit of a Transformer (pretend his arms could retract). Actually, that would _really_ have been a good way to present the character; claim the lighter is made from the same material as Met helmets, and instead of balling up into flame, and add a "transformation" step between Heat Man covering himself in flame before flying across the screen... *Anyway,* the point is that I kinda like Heat Man, yet kinda *don't.* You just saw how I had to _change_ how he actually worked to _really_ get into the character. Well... same for HeatMan.EXE. I like him, but at the same time... feels kinda like a waste. You know, the "They're taking a silly character and trying too hard." kind of thing I think ExploDjinn has had with other characters. Fair or not, I also kinda dislike how he's Mr. Match's _replacement_ NetNavi. Though, if we go the route of Mr. Match collecting a whole _team_ of Fire Navis, _that_ I could get behind... *Getting to the point,* I already said it; *this is a tie* because I like but don't love either. *Wood Man* _Classic_ Woodman looks like me doing a bad cosplay of _something._ Well, me at a certain age, when I had that kind of body type (the vast majority of the time, I've been _fatter_ than that). Finding out the leaves has little jets in their stems to propel them? Not helping. Now, WoodMan.EXE looks _weird_ but it grows on ya. Or at least, on me. While I question making him such an oddly proportioned stump, I do like the "big guy" look for him. Also, in _Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge_ for the GBA, it is hilarious watching WoodMan.EXE attack. Ya see, he rocks back on his arms, thrusting his midsection forward for *every* attack. Now, _think_ about the various Battle Chips and how that looks and *I am being totally juvenile but it makes me smile.* *WoodMan.EXE* winds with his Wood Tower. ;) Though that _Mega Man Fully Charged Wood Man_ does look good, or at least, better than these two... *I did Dr. Wily last time: it was a tie.* Okay, so now to update scores: *This Round* Classic: 1 Battle Network: 4 Ties: 2 N/A: 1 *Running Total:* Classic: 3 Battle Network: 9 Ties: 5 N/A: 1 I began this assuming the Battle Network series would win; while I love the Classic series *and grew up with it,* the Battle Network series has more _character_ and that is (usually) a good thing. *However,* I suspect the "Ties" may actually dominate by the end.

Have not thought about Darkstalkers for a while, but you make a pretty good point with the Pyron comparison. After all, they're both Capcom and have the more atypical straight out horns, even if Pyron's have a bit of curve at the ends.
