I agree. At first I'm not into experimental kind of songs at all. But after all this music experts explain how there perceive the music in terms of key change etc and like "oh where are we going?" I can see theres a correlation between the music and the mv story. And it surprise some people to know it actually already happen for every comeback of previous sm group especially Red Velvet. Red Velvet and Aespa is definitely stand out the most among all these mv-music telling story. Others mostly a song separated of the mv and music but linked with lyrics. But for these two group it obvious they linked the mv and music directly even without the need of the lyrics.

People saw this song and hear noise, I am seeing this song more as a complementary storytelling aspect. People forgot that in this storyline, they are in hallucination quest. Yes, it confuses you, yes you don't know where are they going with it but that's the thing. When you're being hallucinated, you are not grounded - you stay afloat. I know some of us are here for the music but for aespa, we need to channel their concept to understand their music, even if it confuses us. And the thing is aespa's Savage album is for everyone like you are confused with the title track? Try the other songs. If you are overwhelmed with their metaverse concept, they have songs that are still close to home but will not overwhelm you. Thank you very much for this reaction!

Hmm, for awhile now, I think the music production maybe leaning more into the storytelling (granted I haven't watched the new video interview with aespa's producers). In Black Mamba, the conflict was clear, it was aespa vs the Black Mamba, hence the straightforward production when it came to their debut music. In Next Level, we see them going to Kwangya, another world, as stated in the SMCU Episode 1 towards the end, hence the otherworldly direction change after the "beat drop", with some inclusion of how they feel and how they are able to go to the "Next Level" thanks to Naevis hence the video game aspect and the post-chorus prior to the bridge. This is then reiterated in Savage- giving thanks to Naevis' sacrifice and now they're in Kwangya, a place that is chaos itself. Aespa supposedly beats the Black Mamba, but, as mentioned before, it is a hallucination quest. So have they actually beat it? Hence the unsettling ending. I don't know, just food for thought. Maybe I went nuts thinking about their upcoming, yet seemingly never coming, comeback too much.

In short: I vote F# minor for the first two choruses, B minor for the bridge, G# minor for the final chorus. Somewhat longer version, but still shortened: So I agree with Cloud that the bass is not clear at all, what pushes my ear in a direction is the sounds above. Chorus: The instrumental, especially the "marimba-sound", sits more in G# minor, but the sung "gimme gimme now" drops it firmly into F# minor for me. That may be a question of how loud which part is, but I feel like the vocals are what catches all the attention, and the "marimba-sounds" just add color. Bridge: Well, that is probably something rather subjective, but I can't possibly hear it in D major. When I play along on an instrument and close off the bridge with a cadence to D it feels weird. So B minor for me, even though the F# is only minor. Pop doesn't need leading tones. XD Final chorus: Oh boiii... So the instrumental doesn't really change from chorus 2, so it still sits more in G#m. Then there is still the "gimme gimme now" which pushes me towards F#m. But the high descant line is so strong, and the notes they chose clearly imply G#m to me. For me the F# in the end feels unstable because it wants to resolve up to a G#, like a minor 7 to 1. Again, when I play along and just try a chord after the final note, I personally need the G#m. The most "problematic" note is the A, and during the final chorus I feel the key shift a bit depending on what I listen to, but the final bar is very firmly G#m for me. I find it fascinating how different people are hearing this. Cool stuff!

Thank you for reacting to this song. I have been waiting for this since long. It is really fun to watch all these musicians reacting to my girls' song. Please react to aespa's upcoming song again.

Oooh love that Ju young mentioned that comparison with EXO's What is Love. Even Winter's part at the end of the bridge "Urin manna kkok buhwal geudaeum" reminds me of that song 😩😩

The bridge feels like the chorus as in the part we we were all waiting for. In that sense the whole song feels like it keeps the tension up pretty well up to that point. The outro feels like the bridge of the song. That outro was so jarring to my ears on first listen but on subsequent listens i loved finally getting to that part! Also sm rly has been loving out of tune instruments lately!
