I like that you have a clear idea of how to run a fun reward system but no downsides that usually mess up reward systems and take away what we are trying to achieve.

HELP! We have this system started; however, a teacher is killing them with candy, jellos,. SUGAR rewards. I am only an EBHA, and although, I HAVE mentioned Diabetes, this reward is continuing to be more than regularly offered. I brought in the ticket system THANK GOD; it is helping, but I don't know how to stop so many sugar things when they've already become accustomed, so much so they demand candy.

Thank you! In third grade I was traumatized by a novice teacher that fined me 5 "dollars" every time I didn't do my homework. I was in so much debt because I never did my homework. I was like negative 300! I wish I could give her feedback now that I am grown. Until about 6th grade I didn't do my homework, but I got on it when I was old enough and I'm now quite accomplished academically. Anyway, Now I have a Kindergarten son and his teacher just emailed parent that she is starting a system that included reward bucks and fines. I kindly shared with her my feedback on the fines part of it. Kindergarten. I took a family resources class in college a few decades ago and I recall that research did not support a fine for bad behavior. I would hope the teachers and counselors in schools are using evidence-based practice. surely there is research on these matters that they can utilize when designing a program. Right? They don't just wing it right? I know we in the medical field don't just wing it.

im struggling in getting a balance in the fine system some economy system uses. Trying to find a way to fine students without taking away their rewards. I have some 6th and 7th graders and some students that needs more disciplining and without having a fine system or negative point system, i dont see what i can do when students violates some of the major rules.

He said, they don't get the ticket, so basically they lost the chance to get the ticket because they chose not to listen, participate, etc. Chosing to listen, means earning a ticket.

Is it better to use fake money to teach money skills? That was my initial idea. However, how do you store the money and prevent stealing (I teach middle school sped).

That's up to your discretion, honestly, but I've done it in the past with decent success. Just make sure you have lots and lots of copies ready. To prevent stealing or copying, have a stamp (or use your signature in ink) that you use when you hand out money - if it's not stamped/signed, it didn't come from you. When they cash in the bills, you cross out the signature/stamp and then can reissue it again later with a new stamp/dated signature. Good luck! 👍💯😎♥️

Yay! So glad to help out. Let me know if you incorporate any of this into your classroom. I know things are crazy this year with virtual learning and covid!
