Great work here. No bla bla bla. Clear explanations, clear video. I wish that I had an ultrasonic cleaner.

I cleaned this carb manually with carb spray and was not happy with the performance. It ran but surged. After watching you video, I went back and cleaned it again using my ultrasonic and used the tips you give in the video. It now runs perfect. Thank you for this video. I wish you could be a little more clear on how you feel about the EPA regulations depriving us of adjustability. LOL. Thanks again.

I pulled the Carb yesterday off a 2 year old Briggs and Stratton 5,000 Watt Generator and found the Needle Valve Gummed- Up in the Huayi Carb. Somehow, I lost the Spring that goes between the Needle Valve and Float. So, I took a small Spring and Cut-it-Down. I got the Engine to Run but Gas is Running-Out. Briggs and Stratton wants $70 for a New Carb and $40 for a Rebuild Kit. Must be a better way to Replace that Spring.

You can get the chinese carb kits from ebay, amazon, aliexpress...they work just fine. I have used them in the past. I do not however recommend the chinese aftermarket carburetors. Just search "huayi carburetor kit" and what you are looking for should pop up. Compare the photos carefully to ensure the parts are the same. It's unusual the briggs motors use Huyai carbs...generally they are Walbro

I did Order a little Rebuild Huayi Carb Kit from Ebay. Without any Cross-Reference, had to go by Photos. I'm guessing the Float Needle Valve with the Stem are probably all the Same in the Huayi Carb, and maybe even in many other Brands too. We will know when it gets here.

There are a couple of variations, that is why it is always best to compare the parts in photos. Also, most local small engine repair shops are dealers and can often order you the original parts/kits at a reasonable price. There are brand-name aftermarket parts such as Stens, MTD etc.. which tend to be slightly higher quality that the ebay/amazon china specials.

Some carbs have a stealth filter screen at the bottom of the hole where the fuel inlet barb fitting is. (The video I watched was a Huayi and the fitting was a pressed in taper fit you could twist out with pliers.) I didn't know about it at the time I cleaned my carb but after removing the main jet parts I blew carb cleaner back out from there, (I always try to blow in the reverse direction of fuel flow for all the vias) out the fuel inlet which cleared it enough for the engine to run normally again. (It would only keep running on almost full choke = fuel starvation).

Hello, great video, no fluff or rambling, just info! I have a Huayi carb on a generator. I've used Ethanol free gas and I run it dry but it will only run choked down. (just a few hours on the motor) In the process of cleaning it so you video is perfect. I'm reading conflicting views about using a fuel stabilizers. What would your best practices be for a seldom used (hurricane) generator in humid climate. Thanks.

It's a case of a blocked idle circuit. Very common occurrence on these carburetors. The only way I get them to come back is a thorough cleaning in the ultrasonic cleaner. Always use ethanol free fuel. I personally never use fuel stabilizers. Make sure to Always run the generator every couple of months so ir does not loose It's magnetic flux.

Wonder if a Walbro would work better in place of the Huayi Carb?
@QuaabQueb

Could be, usually the motor is only designed to run properly with the carb that is fitted to it.
