I notice that the video conveniently skips the part where the metal clamp that keeps the valve in place is "tilted aside" to allow access to the valve. I'm a strong, 6'3" man who played rugby in college. I CANNOT remove it for the life of me. I have tried with my hands, and I have tried with needle-nose pliers. It won't budge and I'm worried I will break if I really go for it. Any advice?

+Jim Flanigan , put a knife in between the metal clamp and the plastic, tilt it, it will unlock. Same with the plastic part you need to lift.

the model above (as well as my model optima G2470) does not have a metal clamp to the back flow preventer. You just pull it out as in the video. Just fyi.

On mine and I think mine is the same model as yours as it does not have a metal clamp. The drain is clipped closed, so as you see him doing in the video here, he first releases the clip and then pulls it open relatively easily. Look to where his hand goes, pause if you need to. But you shouldn't need any knives or spatulas to do it. Infant if you don't squeeze the clip to unhook it you might break it. If you pause it as 0.37 you can see he has his thumb and four finger squeezing to unhook the clip first and then pulls it over easily. :-D Good luck!

For those of you struggling with valve, I finally figured out my model G892 SC. I pushed it to the side as best I could and gently slipped a thin spatula underneath. It released the vacuum and came right out. Hope this helps.

Brilliant- so easy to follow and not a word spoken. I might coin a new phrase - a video is worth a million words. I have one small problem which I am unable to fix. The upper arm which I used to be able to remove (by twisting anticlockwise) and clean. It just will NOT unscrew - tried everything. Want to avoid calling a service man if I can help it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Brilliant. Dishwasher was making a clicking sound and would not start. Removed the part of the drain pump that clips on under the filter and it released a gush of water. Found a hard object in the piece. Re-assembled and it's working now. Saved on a service call.

This is very helpful. Around 40 seconds you remove a beige part; I have removed this and and am not sure whether I'm cleaning off only deposits. It looks like there might have been a rubber or silicone or some type of seal on one side of it. You are showing that right at 49 seconds. Is there a gasket in there that deteriorated in my machine? Or am I okay just cleaning it and replacing that part?

My Miele dishwasher is making a high pitch whirring sound but still washing properly..I went on holiday and when I came back F14 came up...I fixed that problem with a fork as shown here but now have this problem..and tips..that I can do myself..as there are no Miele techs where I live..I imported my Miele dishwasher because had one in Europe which never gave a problem for 14 years and expected the same...

thanks for this vid. Great tip. I did not know the grey plastic thing came out and that is where i found the blockage. Miele products rock for durability. A few years ago, I had a Bosch and the same issue broke the machine and cost me 275.00 to fix it. With Miele it was free.

Thank you! My Miele was not the same (from 2015) but you put me on the right track. I found a VERY rusty nail deep inside. Removed it and it is working great again. I have no idea how it got past the filter...

So I want to do that, but in the manual it says I have to pull the power plug before doing that. Is that really necessary? I honestly don't even have an idea where that plug is ...

In case anyone else has this problem: I was able to find out from Miele that there is an O-ring, and it comes with the non-return valve. My O-ring was so deteriorated that I could barely tell there had been one. Miele tech support said I'd need to get the new part, and not to use just any O-ring from the hardware store.

You run tap water through the parts every day, why would rinsing them in the sink make any difference? The idea is to clean them with vinegar or something that will loosen the hard water deposits. What this video does is done in the rinse cycle every day. Also this dishwasher doesnt need to be cleaned unless you're just a neatnick.

+leigh skilton hey man did it fix it? Ive cleaned everything i keep reseting the cycle by holding the start button but once i start the program after the initial 10 second start phase once the washing begins it stops and the inlet/outlet signs flash again and everything stops. Ive taken the bottom off to make sure there is no leak and that the sensor/switch at the bottom is fine and that is the case. Also cleaned the outlet valve outside the unit and there are no blockages there.
