I followed each step very slowly and was able to clean the sensor of the Leica D-Lux. Could I have done this without your video? No chance, so thanks for sharing!📸

That’s great! The first time I did it.. I didn’t get all the dust out and had to take it apart again. I’ve taken it apart a few times now and the rubber grip is not sticking anymore. Have to find rubber cement for cameras. I love the LX100 except for this dust flaw.

Thank you for this video - I had to replace the battery/SIM card door, and this video showed me exactly how to get into the camera in order to do that!

I just picked up one of these for a song because it has "spots" - hoping I can clean the sensor and have a pristine camera for my effort, thanks for sharing the video I find it very helpful compared to written guides.

Good stuff! For me, the last time I opened the thing up, I also tried to "seal" some of the gaps in the battery compartment and port doors. I used some clear weather tape. The LX100 could be near perfect except for this dust issue.

@@JohnChu I opened mine today and it was just full of debris, just using a blower I managed to get the sensor almost perfect, just have one tiny mark at f11 and above left. I'm very happy for now but next time I might try the tape too

I used vibrating massager and vacuum cleaner with bottomless plastic bottle attached. After third attempt with rotation of camera all dust specks were gone :) Camera was with extended lens and without batteries.

That's great. I tried it once with an AeroPress Coffee maker and taping around and slowly pulling up the plunger. Unfortunately, I pushed my luck and realized I had no choice to but to take it apart again. This time though, I made sure to clean the lens the best I could. I've also been using weather tape around the HDMI and USB port door.

@@JohnChu Yeah. Unfortunately, I am shooting in dusty apartments and I have to clean cameras every 3 months. Powerful vacuum, vibration with knocking by any device like electric toothbrush, and rotation of camera solved the problem. I wish I knew it, before purchasing my two cameras...

Thank you Master Chu i would give this a try as my LX100 has developed dust on its sensor too, very annoying when i shoot slower than F4. With your help my the old LX100 can literally use for enternity now. Will go to a dust free or lesser dust location to complete this project.

It would be worth doing some "dust proofing" in my opinion when the thing is apart. The battery compartment is not sealed, so dust can enter from there. And the port doors on the right side is also not sealed. I was using some weather tape (removable clear temporary tape) to seal the outside door.

it is an amazing camera, but the sensor dust is disturbing. I have been removing the sensor dust on Light Room.

Thanks for this video, I love my LX100 but it has been on the shelf for some time because there is something wrong with the lens , sometimes will not auto focus on the wide end, and sometimes the zoom will not work, there is something wrong and I have no idea of how to solve this as I live in Brazil and couldn't find anyone capable of fixing it

You may have found out that just taking it apart and replugging in the ribbons will solve your problem. Just have to take it apart.

Personally, I thought it would be harder. Just keep track and organized. The first time I did it, I was annoyed I still had dust and had to take it apart again. The trickiest part is the ribbon cables, you have to make sure they are seated before you lock them back in place. You need some of the nylon spudgy tools from iPhone battery replacements from Amazon.. it makes life easier.

I never looked into it as my main goal was getting the dust off… but iFixit has a decent photo on step 17. www.ifixit.com/Guide/Disassembling+Panasonic+LUMIX+DMC-LX100/55603

Nice job. How long did it take you for the entire process? Any particular difficult areas I should know about before cleaning my sensor?

Only thing to say is to not force anything. Unplugging and replacing the cables are tricky. Use a flashlight and magnifying glass to make sure all the dust is off. It sucks to put the thing back together and still find dust. Be prepared to have to start over again. Accept that dust may still appear at higher f stops/apertures. Good luck, take your time and organize.
