Hi Andrew from the UK. your comment about a landrover. We have diesels mostly over here, my black early 3 door i purchased for next to nothing but it needed lots of welding underneath. That done i owned it for 10 happy years doing everything I wanted to do with It, towing big trailers, broken down vehicles, or being a 7 seater car. It used to tow in broken down vehicles with ease and its old fashioned 2 1/2 liter turbo diesel ran happily on new cooking oil & diesel mix allowed here if you only used 25.000 litres a year (but who checks) sadly I had to sell it at 240.000 miles on the odometer due to my need for an auto box one when find the right one - Diesel rules here Andrew.. OK, I am an old machine shop engineer that used to work for the aircraft Industry so, I love just watching your videos and LEARN something new each time, but at 71 years of age, I`ll not do lots that I`ll learn from you.. Your doing great stuff that keeps me amused so thanks for that.. OK, as Its near that time of year, may I wish you & family a Merry Christmas, and that goes out to your fan base also.. Sure it adds a little to our work but she can still handle all of it when we aren't there. Fill a few crates up for her and carry them inside next to the stove so all she has to do is move herself a little to fill it. That 20 year old Land Rover is a vehicle designed to meet European efficiency expectations and environmental standards. To achieve this an awful lot more technology is required than your typical 1980’s pickup, this technology makes older vehicles like this uneconomic to repair or in some cases too complex for the DIY mechanic. It’s a doddle to make a vehicle that delivers 10mpg belches out pollution and runs for decades, it’s exponentially more difficult to make one that delivers 40+ mpg with low carbon emissions and runs for 15+ years.

B White it’s all how you treat them , the motor in the Land Rover is a Chevy v8 that wasn’t approved so Land Rover bought it and started using it the only this wrong is the engine and in my case I had mine in 2001 to now and never had a major problem at 200 thousand miles just a gasket or two other wise it’s a great machine

Land Rover made incredibly robust/reliable vehicles for decades, then this emissions crap came along and they had to push technology to adhere to them. Their quality/reliability dropped around the time of the discovery I. For the past 10 years they have regained their robustness/reliably.

Andy, at the beginning of the tape here, it shows you struggling mightily with removing, well trying to remove frozen rock-hard,-dirt. We have the same problem here with our heavy logging equipment. But we have water pressure guns like you but we also have one that you don’t have that is extremely powerful, and we run extremely hot water through it that would SCALD YOU. And we use it on the frozen tracks and on all of our logging equipment that gets froze up overnight when it sits out on site. On the log-landing. As we call it. Back at our office we have one building that is very very large that we can pull a Half-a-dozen log trucks or a half a dozen different pieces of heavy equipment into it. And all of our buildings have heated floors and needless to say when we come back in the next day everything on all the equipment has melted bone dry.
