I’m in 6b and the weather has been near 60 all week. It has been hard to hold myself back from clearing my flower beds because we have snow and below freezing temperatures coming here in 2 days. But I did go out and take all the leaves off my rose bushes. There were black spots and aphids last year, so I needed to clean all the diseased leaves away before spring. I cut back and sort of cleaned a little in my herb garden. But for the rest I’m trying to be patient😊.

Can't wait till I can get outside in the flower beds again. In Michigan I best wait awhile. Although it was beautiful today and bright sun 🙂

Ooh, I so want to clean up my gardens here in Minneapolis. But I know we still have plenty of winter. I brushed aside some leaves last week when we had unusually warm weather to plant some poppy seeds. It shocked me to see the tippy tops of daffodils peeking up in the soil. Seeing them helped me place those same wire baskets you had (thanks for that suggestion last year). I anchored them in and sprinkled my poppy seeds through the mesh. I covered everything with leaf debris so they could sleep some more. Now, I'm shopping for trees. I already ordered lots of plants online and those will arrive in May. I have a hardscaping project in mind and asked at Lowe's when their garden center opens so I can get square pavers to place in a checkerboard pattern in my weed-prone gravel path. I'm getting so antsy to garden!

@@ineedmickey5170 I'm in Minnesota so timing could differ where you are. The clerk told me to come back in a couple weeks (so, by now, one week) for hardscaping stuff.

On February 11 in zone 7a, my husband and I transplanted 4 shrubs. We may have pushed the season a little, but I wanted to move them while still dormant. It felt great!

I don't necessarily eat arugula, but I got seeds, and plan to plant it everywhere. Deer and rabbits apparently hate it!

I'm in zone 6 in Ontario Canada looking at snow and frozen ground. Did not stop me from buying some plants online to get mailed out in April/May which I than let my friend know may go in her garden because as usual I bought without plan of where I'll be able to fit them 😂. But a great sale! How could I resist!

I'm not quite doing cleanup yet. I'm in z 6 but up in NE Wa - can't plant spring things out until April, and warm season plants out in mid May. Cold and soggy here right now (snow melted for now, but still freezing at night). But I have started a lot of seeds indoors plus my wintersowing, so that's keeping me motivated 🙂 Nice job w the cleanup!! Your garden looks great!

In my area it is still too cold to do anything. We are getting another cold snap and snow this week. I am planning just to wash my pots for starting the seeds and I am watching videos about pruning shrubs and fruit trees. I should be able to start with that next month.

I wish that I had a way to coral leaves and use them as mulch. If my husband can fix the lawn sweeper I would be a happy camper. ❄️🫠💚🙃

I was just out there moving plants while they’re dormant. I picked up an Ivory Halo red twig dogwood on clearance last year. It finally has a home (until I change my mind and move it). 😂 It’s also time to sow poppies here in CT.

I don’t pay much attention to the the name of the season… I just live with what comes. I guess I’d say we are still in late winter now, but soon will transition to early spring.

With me I’m usually so over the summer heat and yard work by late fall that I don’t clean up until spring. Probably Mid May or so it depends on whether it’s raining or not. It’s been unseasonably warm here so the itch to get outside again is starting but I KNOW we’re in for more winter here in Michigan. ❄️🫠💚🙃

I’m hoping my grandson can help me this spring dig out some sheep manure from the barn. It’s pure gold in the barn but hard to get out. Also the chicken barn could use a good clean out but I know for a fact the chicken manure would need to age for a good bit because it would be way to hot to use it directly in my garden. I THINK the sheep manure would be alright to add directly to some areas because it has a good deal of straw mixed in with it. 🫠❄️💚🙃

I’m going to have to figure out irrigation this spring. It’s going to be a mess because of where the water source is but if I start out small I can work my way up to my entire garden. I just hate making mistakes and wasting materials. ❄️🫠💚🙃
