Hi, Fellow CJ-5 Owner ('70 CJ-5 w/ Dauntless V6, 22,351 Original miles... 2 owners) that I got in Utah in 2003. Can you explain the appeal of the rust patina? I kind of like that, but thought it'd kill the value (not that I'd ever sell 😉). Mine looks kind of like that... 🤔 minus the Georgeous paint job/clear coat! Talk about WOW! I Love what y'all are doing! Beautiful work on these sweet, sweet gems. 💎 And where are you located? I'm in Florida. I'm gonna need some restoration help with my '70 girl.

Beautiful photina paint. It’s the way I’ve done it. My only issue is with the super high shine. Not complaining, it’s beautiful. I just prefer (personal preference) to use a good flat clear for this kind of paint job. It will last as long and the look and feel is as if it’s old. Your work is great, something to be proud of as I know you are since you share it to all. Keep it up. Enjoy your vids.

Dennis Sir, how well does the clear adhere to the rust even sanded with 800? Dad was an Auto Bodyman and part time painter before he passed. I use to help him do body & paint work going through High School (Class of 78, yes I’m old) but we never painted over rust! May I ask what clear do you use? Single stage Enamel w/ a hardner or adhesion promoter or Urethane or what? Thanks in advance‼

I did car audio in the 80's and 90's, cant tell you how many CJ dashes I cut, probably at least 500. I did learn to look to see what heater core was in the thing before cutting the dash though, learned the hard way that some of the early ones simply didnt have the depth to mount a standard DIN radio. Whats up with all the mercedes sitting out front, has to be a story behind those.
