A drive-through tour of Clear Lake State Park in Kelseyville CA (North-West of Sacramento & North of San Francisco).
Clear Lake State Park is 590 acres with 149 Developed Campsites, multiple bathrooms, a RV Dump Station, Boat Launch, Fish Cleaning Station, large parking lots, a public beach, miles of hiking trails, and plenty of wildlife. This lake is known as the "Bass Capitol of The West" due to its excellent fishing (25+ lbs. catfish & 8+ lbs. Largemouth Bass are caught regularly), along with a serene and peaceful environment with nature all around.
Clear Lake is 1,417 feet above sea level and is the largest freshwater lake that is completely in California (Lake Tahoe is bigger, but it crosses the boarder into NV and thus is in two states). It's a great place for a fun getaway as it's clean, has good amenities, is quiet, peaceful, full of nature, and has plenty of space to roam around and play and is very reasonably priced. Our kids loved it, I'm sure yours will too (the adults loved it too)!
Though there are plenty of spaces for RV camping, there are no hook-ups. It get's hot in the summer, and seeing that you can't run your generator during quiet hours at night, that means no air conditioning...bring extra fans, and plan accordingly!
This is a warm water lake which collects surrounding agricultural runoff, so unfortunately during the hotter months of the year the water is anything but "clear": it is green with a thick layer of algae on the surface. Enter the water at your own risk!
