Big fan of the Korean skin care routine . My two cents on your routine: 1.Coconut oil is VERY HIGH on the comedogenic scale (WILL CLOG PORES) so you can opt to use another oil to cleanse like rosehip oil or jojoba oil. 2.Scrubs are unnecessarily abrasive causing micro-cuts in the skin, worsening inflammation which then worsens hyperpigmentation . Chemical exfoliation is MILEEEEEEES more effective. 3.Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A and very strong. The reason your skin was peeling was because maybe you put it directly on your skin and not after hydrating and moisturising The Retin A you have is 0.05% which is string for a retin A. Try Differin or Adapalene which is miles more effective and less harmful. 4. Love your hydration steps especially the hyaluronic acid step. A staple in proper skin care. Even the mask! Apart from the coconut oil and scrub your skin care game is A1

Dennis Muriungi Thanks Dennis! And thank you for watching 🤗 As you may have watched in the video I did mention some of your points. 1. My skin LOVES coconut oil, but I did acknowledge that it’s not for everyone and I did give alternatives. 2. I do mention that for many scrubs do result in micro tears and that my DIY scrubs were causing more harm than good in the long run. 3. I did say that I stopped using Retin A (tretinoin 0.05%) and I’m now using the retinol serum infused with hyaluronic acid, aloe, jojoba, wheat germ and vitamin E which my skin LOVES! So far, I’m super happy with the coconut oil and scrubs which have really been great for me, but I’m sure for those who watch this and have not have great results with coconut oil and the scrubs, they’ll really appreciate your wonderful input. Again, thank you so much.

When I watched this video 3 years ago Patricia I didn't need it. My skin was goals. I just loved you and everything you say and how you say it. Now on some treatment that has dried my skin out and baby girl all I needed was remember you had said something about the skin. I also have lost too much weight too fast so my subcutaneous tissue on the face has disappeared making my skin a little dull. I am glad you left this digital footprint here Patricia. God bless you for us

For those who want to follow the 10 step in the morning, anything with vitamin c should only be used at night. Exfoliation and the mask should be done only 2 or 3 times per week. You need to tailor the regimen to meet your skin needs. I've been using the 10 step with Korean products for over a year and people have asked me if I'm 26 or 28 years old. I turned 43 last month and my skin looks amazing.

Also constructive criticism - in the Korean routine, it’s advised to pat pat pat product into your skin as opposed to massaging it in, unless it’s your neck in which you can massage in upward motions. Consistent tugging of the skin will encourage premature wrinkles even if it’s being employed in glorious Korean method. Also If you want to step it up to gear 6, get a jade roller to help you light massage your skin. so so glorious you won’t even need to go for a facial ever again! And another one is during each step, apply any left over product on your palms to the back of your hands (since they’re the most abused part of our bodies and give away our age no matter how young our faces be looking) Skin looking yummy, keep up ❤️

Good video - just a few points; - Be careful spraying the Micellar Oil near your eyes. It has mild surfactants on it. On the days you just use Micellar water also try and rinse it off as you're leaving those surfactants on your skin and that is actually quite harmful. - Coconut Oil is HIGHLY comedogenic. You can get a cheap Korean cleansing oil from eBay/ Amazon such as Hada Labo. - Try and use a pH balanced foam cleanser i.e. Haha Labo/ Cerave Neutrogena. - You started at a high strength of Retin-A. Best to start with 0.025% and cut it with a basic emollient moisturiser. So 1/2 Retin-A and half moisturiser to get a concentration of 0.0125% and build use slowly i.e. 1x week then 2x week then 3/4x a week. After a few weeks when you're up 3/4x a week then you can stop cutting it slowly. When your skin has acclimated to 0.025% after a few months you then move up to 0.05%. - If you're still in your child bearing years and want to have children then I would skip the Retin-A - You MUST use sunscreen EVERYDAY if you use Retin-A, Glycolic Acid or Vitamin C. - The single most aging environmental factor is the Sun, even for african skin, so wear your SPF for both UVA/UVB. Korean skincare does great cheap SPF. - You can use a sheet mask in place of the toner step also - Is this video being sponsored by Garnier (aka L'Oreal) ?

Trans Retinoic Acid (Retin-A) is "Teratogenic". This is why women have to take birth control whilst on Tetracycline which is a much stronger oral version of Retin-A. Essentially there is a small to moderate chance of birth defects depending on how much of it you use. The risk is small but it it really worth it for the sake of a few wrinkles ? embryo.asu.edu/pages/retinoids-teratogens

so cool! Just a note, using retinoids and AHAs like glycolic and salicylic acid sensitizes your skin to the sun (and can make it easier for sun exposure to darken scars on your skin), so it's important to use SPF (shoot for >15). We may melanin blessed and not burn easily, but melanoma does not discriminate! You still need to protect yourself from UV rays

MaryAnne Achieng Thanks for this comment. I forgot to mention this in the video! SPF for the win. Thank goodness as well for MAC foundation which I use. It has a default SPF of 15. 🤗🤗 And yes it’s true, most people think melanin means we don’t need sunscreen but we doooo!

The SPF in makeup is a deep deep DEEEEEP ingredient. Having SPF underneath during the last step of your skin care is better. Anything below SPF 30 is useless and anything above SPF 50 is also a waste . Sunscreen for the win!

Hi Patricia! This is the very first video I've seen of yours - you have such a wonderful presence and I am so happy to have found your channel! (I have now subscribed)! Thank you for sharing this routine, you explained every step so clearly. I also have had the struggle of hormonal acne on my jawline. While a nourishing facial routine really helps, along with a balanced diet and lots of water, I found that my acne was due to hormonal changes as I reached my 30's. A few years ago my doctor prescribed me a topical progesterone cream that I use and it has cleared my hormonal acne completely. When you approach your mid to late 30's (I am 37 now), you reach the ages closer to perimenopause. Starting a routine with progesterone therapy made such a difference for me, not only with my skin, but with my cycle and my moods. Take care and I look forward to watching your videos!

Funny enough, the Koreans I have asked about it looked at me like 'eeerrr...what routine?? what is that??' Lol! It's not really a thing among Koreans. They do use the products but they don't really have a routine per se. Great video Patricia, especially love how your editing just keeps getting bomb. Mashallah your skin has improved loads! Wow. Always so fascinated by how our bodies react to the kind of attention we give it. My skin was going through the gigs as well but Alhamdulillah improved so much because I also developed a routine to care for it. It’s on my channel 🤗 the only advice I’d give you is 1. Be more gentle on your eyes when taking off makeup because that rubbing could cause the delicate skin to weaken; 2. Rub the moisturiser in using upward strokes to prevent sagging later on in life; and 3. You should probably alternate usage of the retinol serum and the vitamin c serum because they don’t really help each other work to their full potential. Retinol has a higher pH while vitamin c has a lower one and they end up diluting each other’s potencies so neither works as it really should.I can’t wait for my konjac sponges to get here! How’s it been working for you? Has it played a noticeable role in your skin improvement? And lastly, I assume your skin type is oily from the products you’re using but not sure, is it?
@misskihoro
6 жыл бұрын
Oshinity Oshiiiin! Thanks for the advice. I’ll def start alternating the two serums, it’ll probably even make them last longer. I had no idea I was diluting them. The Konjac sponge is great but I wouldn’t say it’s changed my life. It’s a great little thing to have but it’s non essential in my opinion.

Michelle Muturi Have you tried chemical exfoliation? Neutrogena pore refining toner has both salicylic acid and glycolic acid to treat acne. Moisturize and use SPF 30 -50 sunscreen after though.

Michelle Muturi also hormonal acne is caused by inflammation inside your body. Cut out dairy. Try almond milk instead. Dairy causes inflammation on the skin . Also skin care routines help acne to keep at bay. Do you have one morning and evening

I am all for garnier products.. I think i saw Nancie review them as well in February, my skin was full of rashes and i was not comfortable with it at all.. I started taking my skin care routine seriously and i have nothing but praise for Garnier products. I use them daily and i am not stopping anytime soon. I loved this video. I use close to 6 steps that you've mentioned..

Try using the garnier micellar water to cleanse, or you can oil cleanse with rosehip oil and jojoba oil. Tone with Neutrogena Alcohol free toner . Exfoliate with Neutrogena Pore refining toner (Three times a week at night). Moisturize with Garnier moisture rescue OR Neutrogena Hydroboost Water gel. LAST AND MOST IMPORTANT STEP: Sunscreen. Use Neutrogena Hydroboost SPF 50 or anything between the range of SPF 30 and 50. An effective routine for your rashes. The pore refining toner has both salicylic acid to cleanse your pores and glycolic acid to exfoliate, treat hyperpigmentation and resurface skin.

Carrefour Two Rivers or the HUB. If you don't find the garnier moisture rescue you can get the neutrogena hydro boost water gel which also has hylarunoic acid and glycerin to hydrate and moisturise. WATER GEL NOT CREAM Gel.

I keep watching this video like every time I go on you tube. I really admire your facial skin, it looks so amazing. I had a massive outbreak that it has left my face really bad. I hope to try the regime when I get the products some day. It's only that they are so cost high.
