it took me a long time to pull the trigger on the Clench footplate but once I did, I don't regret it at all. The quality and versatility are unsurpassed. It's not a portable option (too big, too heavy) but I don't take this stuff with me on vacation. I like the fact that it stretches the bands out a little more than narrower solutions (X3 for example). When I first started using RBs I made my own plate using a 1" HDPE cutting board but this is so much better. I have their handles also and like them as they are versitile too. My only complaint is that since the handle has no rotation, some excercises don't feel as good. Clench Fitness is a top notch company with great customer support and I love doing business with them. Their videos are also very informative. Great people, great products.

Enjoy all your videos. At over 70yr old, bands where the way to go for me. I was looking at footplates and went with Clench. Just a note, on Clinch footplate pricing . I searched for Blemished and I got mine for around $180 with your discount tacked on. Many thanks! Anthony

I'm really stumped over the footplate thing. All ready to buy a T-bar, but can't decide on the plate. Many think Harambe has the best, but I just think those handles on the Clench would really come in handy to loop a band around for certain exercises. Most guys have all kinds of equipment or wall plates to anchor a band to, but I don't. Admittedly, I wish the board was smaller. I'm a small, wimpy girl and that thing is a beast. Can't even get the smaller board from Harambe, bc it's never in stock.

I really like the Clench footplate and find it to be a great sturdy well built product. I also have the plastic footplate that came with my X3 system and like it a lot too. I’ve had it for about 4 years and have never had any sign of band damage or wear and tear from either plate. I’ve had the Clench plate for less than a year.

You are right on the front lines of the bandland wars lol. In some of the more hardcore online 'bandland' groups I'm in very serious people have the clench as their preferred board. They say if you you use a wider board it's preferable to use a wider bar to keep the band tension equal. I already have what is called a 'surfboard' that I got for a crazy good going out of business sale from a manufacturer. It's my 2nd board in order to vary the foot positioning to prevent overuse injuries. A huge pro is it helps you get more out of your bands but it may overstretch them some

Another great review. I'm with you on the smaller X3 board. Seems like the X3 system was designed brilliantly, honestly. With a 20 inch bar and small plate. It keeps everything tight and in a stronger range of motion. I think you will also have the same cons with the harambe system too. I still think the X3 is heads and shoulders above the rest. Now, im bias, no doubt. But this review of your actually closed the door to me purchasing a wider board. I was eyeing the harambe board. Finally, Dr. Jaquish is not a fan of the wide bar as well. Although, they do sell them on X3 website. But he doesnt recommend them. Im guessing for the same reason why he doesnt recommend a wide board.

I use a Bodylastics band protector. About $16. You stand on it. Won’t mess up your bands like these expensive board products will likely do.

Do you think variable resistance is superior to lifting weights?
@hybridresistance
Жыл бұрын
I think the best one is what you're going to use the most and enjoy. But if someone told me I could only lift bands or free weights for the rest of my life, I'd have to choose weights. But I'd throw the Total Gym into the "traditional weight" category based on the tension / stress it gives off.

Namaskar, I've recently subscribed to your channel and I must say your videos are awesome. I have one query and was hoping you could help. I have the X3 system. It's great except for the platform, which I feel is a bit small for me and it does cut the bands. So, could I use the Clench footplate / platform with the X3 bar & bands? Your advise would be invaluable. Thank you. God bless you. Regards

The bands are average from Clench....and the handles were VERY limited in practicality. The handles do not rotate and the limitation to the width of the bands that can be used is limited too. The foot plate looks good but still a bit pricey.
@hybridresistance

I only tried their small ones, they do give off a certain more flexible tension that feels different than other bands I've tried.
@ToddDolce

@@hybridresistance and what I mean by the lack of rotation in their dumbbell handles is that the grips are not rounded and are not comfortable in the hand. Due to the way the force is pulling away at you when lifting it would have been cool to have the grips freely spin to mitigate pressure on the tendons on the wrists. Its hard to explain but you can feel the issue when curling really heavy with bands. If they made the grips rounded like a regular bar...I could have at least put a piece of cut pvc around it to allow for proper wrist flexion. Having a squared off bar grip just seemed like a poor choice....in my opinion of course.

You can get them for a little over $200. When Floyd Reed was making footplates, he said it got to where it cost him more to make them than he was selling them for.
