What a great asset this couple was to the world of music. This is such a subtle arrangement and Cleo sings with true mastery of rhythm, phrasing and vocal nuance.

Had not heard this before either. Have been to 3 of her concerts. Have met her several times. Used to get Christmas cards from her and John.

I too saw this on BBC4 tonight. Wonderful sinuous vocal. So glad it's on You Tube. Catch Cleo's vocal of 'Fear no more the heat o' the sun' from Cymbeline. Someone read it at a funeral I went to recently. So moving.

I like the fact that - like my hero Lou - there is still something of the Marmite about Dame Cleo. I love Marmite.

Love this. Sounds like 'Vocalese' (singing a vocal line/lyrics to a previous musical riff or solo). Jazz singers do it often. Jon Hendrix is the master of this, (maybe the originator). The song "Moody's Mood for Love" is a perfect example - it's a vocal of the horn solo of "I'm in the Mood for Love"

For me, this kind of performance is humiliating for many singers.
