The chord progression of this piece’s main theme subconsciously inspired part of a big composition I’m working on right now (using strings with a solo viola, piano, and glockenspiel). I knew what I had written sounded familiar, but couldn’t place where for a while until I realized it evoked this piece.

I can hear why you named it "Cliché". I can picture the trailer in my head. Black screen, 70% white text, fade in "It will make you laugh". Fade to black and back to text" "It will make you cry." Another fade to black and back: "It will make you reach out to your family." But, I wish all cliché music was as beautiful as this one. And the fact that you named it Cliché is why it's so good, because it knows what it is.

The timing is all over the place - but aurally it sounds great. How did you figure out where to place the notes. Most of the strings are not on beat, but nudged early or late... any tips on this point?
@nnnyel
3 ай бұрын
most libraries have documentations stating the delay or offset (usually around -50 - -100ms with strings). You can either setup the individual kontakt instance with the delay, or account for it in the piano roll.
@jamesr141
3 ай бұрын
@@nnnyel If that were the case, the note would still be uniform, though. With respect, I don't think it's about offsetting. Also, like I said, the timing is all over the place. Not just offset. I think the composer has worked out how to change up the timing to give it a more natural, orchestral feel. Within the piano roll, instead of using e.g. tempo automation. this is a tall order. Just interested how he / she did it.

@@jurapuclin Usually I max out the close mic and set up the room mic to around -14 dB. Then I add an internal reverb according to what instrumentation I am using for the track.
