One of the first albums i bought was a Clifford T Ward album in 1984,I was sixteen at the time, not too many sixteen year olds would listen to that kind of stuff today because it's not manufactured like the carp they do listen to.Clifford T Ward is one of those underestimated artists who has everything,Gerry Rafferty was another, proper musicians, sadly both gone but their music will live forever .

My memory of Clifford , was when I worked at the cafe Torino 214 Oxford street. Five floors above was Air studio, run by George Martin,I guess Clifford was working there. I had just bought the Album from HMV that week and had been playing Home Thoughts track continually.I only new our Clifford looked by the album picture and could not believe he was standing in front of me , he was instantly recognisable.I said your Clifford t Ward , he seemed shy to say he was.i told him I had the Album to which he asked me if I liked it. I said my favourite track was Home thoughts , he asked me to get it and he would sign it for me but it was at home.He came over as a very nice genuine person. Glad I meet him and made him a sandwich.

Wow! I think between viewing this clip, as well as one each for Gaye and Scullery-I feel like I've discovered another of the greatest unsung British talents of all time, who I'm guessing probably never crossed over here to the states. Being an anglophile at heart, The very 'Englishness' of his work is the selling point. I would also have to guess by half of these comments, that this artist is no longer with us. Must find out more about him! Clifford T. Ward RULES!

This song never fails to move me, both in mind and spirit.I discovered Clifford T Ward's amazing voice and priceless talent for writing lyrics that actually meant something, back in the mid 70's, when cassettes were the in thing! He wrote from his heart, not from his hand and preferred privacy, his wife and family to worldwide fame, now THATS what I call true love. Amazing lyricist whose work will live on forever, but surely the most undiscovered singer/songwriter of the century.

When I lived abroad, in Beirut in the early 70's, I sent these words to a girlrfriend back in England, albeit with slighlty amended lyrics. Very corny I know but even now, although the relationship was short-lived and very innocent, the song still has a powerful and emotional resonance - I was young then after all!
